I'm thinking of converting a Skyray35 from IC to electric. Will be my first time with electric, so looking for any thoughts about what I need for motor, timer esc, battery and how to install on airplane now configured with .25 Thunder Tigre . Thx

Browse through the pages of setups over in the electric forum.
I would look at Pat Johnston's recommendations for his Shark 402, which is close enough to nearly identical in size to the Skyray.
See the attached pdf for conversion plans that you can modify to suit the Skyray nose and a parts list to dent your wallet a bit.
And yes, we are getting about 900-1100 mah usage out of the 1550 battery. Now that is with a 28 ounce RTF Shark 402. This puts it way under the reasonable draw-down for the battery for good battery safety. Nice setup.

There is enough stuff here to send you into sensory overload. I started a thread "Electric for Dummies" last year when I started my first electric and was really impressed by the the knowledge base we have. My advice is to find someone who has something that works and simply duplicate it for your first try. I can't make any recommendations because all of my stuff is .46 - .60 size motors. Keep it simple at first and you are going to love it. If you fly a lot remember - 1 battery, 1 pattern.

It only goes dark when you use up your last battery of the day...

That is why I have a charger in the car, so I don't have to use the last one!
