El dorado Meet
« on: November 03, 2013, 05:03:18 PM »
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that made it to El Dorado this weekend. The turn out was light, but we still had a lot of fun. Also, thanks to everyone that worked both days so we could have an enjoyable weekend of flying and fellowship.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,
I'm glad it worked out for you. I really wish I had been able to go but as it turned out I had too much to do here too. I hope to be there next year. Kevin's team won his football game to finish the regular season a perfect 8-0, so it was important for me to be there. Now onto the playoffs.

Tom,

I didn't get back to Memphis until 1:00 am this morning.  My dad and I took almost 6000 pictures at the contest.  I'll try to get some posted tonight, including scoreboard and John Gunn's "mysterious" Fox Super Stunt engines.  We had a very unusual occurrence - the five experts in PA finished 1 - 5 in the order that they were posted on the scoreboard.  Everyone asked to fly first next year.

Steve.

Thanks for the great pictures Steve!

William, great to hear that Kevin's game went well.  We'll see you next summer.

Dan, hate you couldn't make it.  Hopefully our paths will cross sooner than later!

Thanks,
Jason

I agree Ty! The last DVIII contest of the year and one of my most favorite contests to attend. The El Dorado area is beautiful and the drive up is some very nice scenery also. There are a lot of things for the ladies to do if they don't want to be stuck at the field all day- ole timey downtown with lots of shops, cafes, pubs, museums, historic homes, parks, etc. Like Joe says, the people are great and everyone enjoys just being there together having fun- they enjoy the fun and fellowship more than the flying I think. Oh! OH!, LET ME NOT FORGET- always another Ty story to be heard! He nevers runs out of'em and never repeats'em!
Also the "BootLegger", Gil Causey, is back competing after a couple of years lay-off and flying better than he has probably ever flown. So his flying is much better, but he still has a hard head! If I complement him too much, then he will have a big-hard head- better left simply "hard". Just joshing! Or is I?
