Easing tensions
« on: April 09, 2011, 03:33:23 AM »
While we tend to agree to disagree I think the over all goal is to advance our hobby. While it might be too late to bring the hobby back to its original state when it was first conceived it is not to late to enjoy it for what it is. Whether you flew speed, combat, racing or stunt it’s a way to bring us back to our youth. To retain friendships that have spanned decades to share common idea and express new ones.

While scanning the forum I ran across a post that in some way was frowned on by some. I am not privy to what it said but have read the apology's. While I know some of you personally and know of all of you in text, I am quite sure it was a misunderstanding. Everyone needs to keep in mind we are but one. We are but one small faction of a slowly dwindling number of modelers loosing ground to a technologically growing society. Keep in mind while things you might say in person ,the things you type here have a different meaning. It’s the inference,it’s the interjection of emotion that make the statement in person come across as intended.

in closing before hitting send or post on a subject that might be taken the wrong way, maybe pickup the phone or just wait till you see the person to rib him or her.

Well stated Robert, but, isn't that where some of the emoticons have some effect?   I am guilty of not being able to really convey what I mean at times.   Even some of the people I know when I see them in person.   Guess growing old has its draw backs.   Anyway hope to see more people this coming year.    H^^

We are so few that we have to love one another, even the SOB's.

The issue of emotionless text forum writing is old as BBS days.

Best advice - If you think you need to infer something - Bracket it .. ( I mean this seriously...... )

Eg :

I saw Johnny BlogsVille and he was flying his new ship today - I have enclosed photo's so you can see how terrible the paint scheme was.  LL~  S?P

OR :

I saw Johnny BlogsVille and he was flying his new ship today - I have enclosed photo's so you can see how terrible the paint scheme was. ( I helped johnny paint it )   #^

One version makes you sound like a Twat and your laughing AT someone..
One version lets everyone in on the joke between You and Johnny..

I agree - Ive always found this forum to be full of great information - lots of people sharing new idea's I akin reading here to be more enjoyable than reading a MAgazine on Stunt, or my local club newsletter. I am kept well informed as to the latest trends ,I can get information, tips and advice, and pass on some of my own to others.  - We are indeed small, and without alot of new members advancing upward.
You certianly dont want to cause people to think  " Why am I doing this..... I dont enjoy it anymore " ...... I know several people that after 25 + Years think the same way - and have since left the hobby.

I occasionally come under fire for cracking Jokes, making the odd quip However - I also like to throw down posts that are intersting to others to read ( I try to steer clear of DELIBERATLEY causing controversy , and also try to avoid insulting anyone.)
At the end of the day I enjoy all aspects of Stunt, from building to paint, to flying and meeting up with old friends again. There is only ever ONE winner in any event, and we dont have Giant prizemoney ( none ) to quarrel over.

Also to keep on topic :

Reduce tip weight to ease tension.

Or ; Reduce engine size..

In all walks of life there is always someone just waiting to be offended. I usually find they are of the politically correct type ::) And I avoid them at all costs!
Here in England my work colleagues and I usually greet each other with a stupid insult ;D followed by an equal rebuke, and that sets the tone for the day, no offense is ever taken! The only people that ever offend me, are the politicians of this planet >:( Life is too short to be constantly offended, give as good as you get! ;) and laugh about it ;D

Cheers

Agreed Sparky, and what Neville said.

This stuff always strikes a nerve with me anymore, and I'm not sorry. This "whiner" crap is a major problem here in the USA, and I 110% believe it's a big reason we're in the shape we're in today.

I work in retail so I deal with whiners all day everyday. Here's the real problem. Generalizing here, people need to quit what has become the automatic norm of looking to blame others for their own personal mistakes and "issues". People need to grow up, take some responsiblity, lighten up and recognize themselves. If they don't like that, won't admit it or can't handle it, then it is their problem. If they are offended by that, they can kiss mine.

Get over it folks, and let's focus on getting this country back on it's feet. D>K

(Just got home from work, I'm a little less tense for the moment now) ;D

On the other hand, I find that reading and perhaps posting in this forum is very relaxing for me, because it resembles absolutely nothing in my normal daily life.  Stunt Hangar is mentally therapeutic for me. n~

Sitting here reading this again while waiting to go to Church.  The thought came back to me of what our retired minister used to say at times during or after a sermon.   You can't hate people,  it is that you love some more than others.  H^^
