Monday Joe Connley and I volunteered at KidVenture. We had two circles going and flew a bunch of kids on some trainer planes. This is organized by Geri and Doug MacArthur and Chris Sterner and Dave Siegler were the local driving force. What a great event to expose the hobby to the masses.
We also managed to get the old Cheezehead gang together for a few flights at the end of the day.
If you ever get a chance to go to EAA in Oshkosh be sure to try and work a shift. I always have one or two kids that I get to solo. That makes my day. 👍🏼😎

I'm here from yesterday ( Tuesday) through Friday. Had a good long sport flying session yesterday after KV shut down while everything from Stearman biplanes to B-29s to F-35s flew over heard! Just waking up to hit the bricks again today!

Sorry we missed you Dan. Wish we could do the week but we go up on a family vacation so I can only break away for a day. 🥴
It’s a air show every day! 😎

I was all signed up and ready to go, but I'm in the middle of my first semester at UCCS and this is a big week of preparation for a group presentation in an oral comm class that I'm taking, so I had to pass. I really wanted to go this year since this was going to be Doug and Gerri's hail and farewell year, but it was not to be. Hope everyone there has a good time!

I was selected to fly the stunt demo at the noon demonstration, largely because it was windy and no one else wanted to fly! Got a good setting on my #2 P-Force, and actually got a pretty good flight. My knees are failing fast I was worried about falling over! Got through the flight and when carrying my stuff off the circle, I sight a familiar gap toothed face and it was Paul Walker and his wife! This carries on the the notion that you never know who you will run into on the grounds up here! Just got back from the night air show and fireworks display and fighting the HUGE crowd that was there tonight!

That’s awesome!
Surely Dave or Chris got some photos.

Dan,
Surprised you have not seen Chris and Joan Cox. They were supposed to be headed to Oshkosh following the Nats. Keep your eyes open.

I have some photos in the facebook group. But no pictures of the kids were flying. I was pretty busy keeping 10+-year-old Norvels running all day.
I wish even if visiting you all would come by and say hello.
It's sad to see a known nation champ walk by and not even introduce themselves.

Hi John;
I don't know if I would recognize Chris if he stomped on my big toe! Paul has the big gap tooth smile that I recognized right away. I said to him, "Hi Paul!" and introduced myself, and he smiled and said, "Gee, I can't go anywhere!" with another big smile and I said that it was that gap toothed grin that gave him away, just as it would Lauren Hutton, Terry Thomas, and Robert Morse!. It looked like Paul and his wife were by themselves, just strolling through the whole KidVenture venue.

We did manage a few Cheezehead flights.
