Title: DYNA-JET POWERED STUNTER-ALBANY 66-67?
Post by: Shultzie on February 03, 2007, 08:03:08 PM
MEL! Any other flyers who might remember this event.

Although I will never forget this AMAZING DYNA-JET POWERED STUNTER THAT FLEW AT THE ALBANY CONTEST...
Help me remember the gifted builder and flyer of this young model builder from Renton Wa. who belonged to the Renton Hawks club...worked at Boeing.

Metal body molded to a Shark wing and stab...The most amazing thing of all...is that he and his Boeing engineers worked up a pressure fuel system that kept that Dyna-Jet lit---even on squares and hard corners, without shuttin' off dead cold?

I have had too many Bud Lights...tonight so hey stunt grunts...fill in my demented memory banks.

At the '58 Criterium there was an Italian Dynajet stunter. Flew all the basic round manoevres with much noise, most impressive. Also at this meet we saw Ivannikov's 186mph world jet record, set virtually in the dark, after sunset. Could hardly see the model, but no problem, we could follow the glowing exhaust, complete with shock wave pattern.

There was a Dyna Jet powered stunter at the '61 nats. I sent pics to Mike Keville last year and he had them in his Stunt News column. I will post the pictures when I get home. It was a very realistic airplane.

in late 50s Darrel W. flew a dynajet powered stunter.have talked to him some about it and my dad has old super8 film of it.
Darrel said it flew big pattern with loose squares(so engine wouldnt flame out)and if things went right i would run out of fuel before last manuver.

he was verry proud of that thing.hes 10 years older than me so would have been about 15 at the time.
he realy looked foward to flying it in the stat champs when they were held here in alexandria but the judges would judge it or let him fly due to noise.him and my mom went next door to the base ball diamond and flew it to anoy the judges while they were judging.

the dyna jet wound up with another flier who use it for speed and then with a yo yo that pawned it.
i found it at the pawn shop and now it sits with my other engines.

trying to get Darrel back to C/L but he is determined to spend a fortune trying to fly r/c 3d aerobatic stuff.

Here is my brother's Mig 15, we're going to paint it, but the bottom will remain aluminum, and we'll try to get it that shiny.

Here is the Dyna Jet stunter that was at the 1961 Nats.

Can anyone identify the people in the pictures?
