Dupli color mirage paint
«

Has anyone tried the Mirage line of paint from Dupli color ? I believe they are lacquer paints(3 step process) that shift colors.
Thanks
Steve

you are correct. It is a 3 stage system Base Color clear. Being a laquer it is not fuel proof so you will have to use a different clear coat rather than the one provided. The clear has to be compatible over a laquer finish. Also as this is a laquer a plasticiser my be beneficial to prevent cracking on a flexible surface like on our models. Unfortunately as Mirage is a rattle can solution adding a plasticiser is not possible. There are traditional spray technique color shifting paints that allow full control over the mixing and application process but these ase a bit pricer. I'll look up some of these products.

If you are into some wild finishes you have to check out Alsa Corporation. They provide some of the most jaw dropping effects in paint and other products. Their color shifting paint process is based on a additive to a base coat to achieve color shifting so you can choose the type of paint to get the effect with. Urathanes and the like that are more fuel proof and fexible for our applications. Here is the link for the sprctra fx product but check out the rest of the site for thier other products.

Thanks for the link, Peter!
I have used the Dupli Mirage on solid surfaces. Covered it with both 2 part auto urethane and Sig Lite Coat. I went light on the first couple coats of Sig just as a precaution.
