Dukes Fuel
« on: June 07, 2020, 02:31:34 PM »
The only all-castor fuel I have are several gallons of Dukes fuel I got from Marvin Denny.  I need straight castor fuel for some Fox’s I have for Classic.  I know Superfuel was 28% castor and was best for the .35.  Does anyone know for sure what the oil content was for Dukes fuel?  I think it was something between 22 and 25 but would like to be more sure before I dump more in.

10% nitro , 20% castor. We used to use it for F2D combat fuel .

What a coincidence! I was going through my whole fuel stock, even the weed killer stuff, to see what I had on hand. Fuel is hard to get around the St.Louis area right now, so I wanted to see what I could dredge up just to sport fly with and save my good stuff as long as possible, and I found a couple of gallons of Dukes Fuel. I will verify what Brad says, 10% nitro and 20% all castor. I had some other Fox fuel that was a 10%nitro-22% oil half castor and half synthetic that I got from Ken Nash in Joplin, MO several years ago, and mixed the two half and half and came up with something than runs pretty good in my fun fly airplanes. I used Dukes Fuel a lot when I first started because we could get it at the hobby shop I worked at back then, so I'm pretty sure of the oil content and such.

If I'm not mistaken, Dukes Fuel used NitroEthane instead of MitroMethane.

Frank
The NitroEthane fuel was Ten plus...   Ran a little hotter,  I used it for Carrier, cause the old Super Tigre stayed lit better....   Still have half a jug....

I think I have some unopened gallons of Duke's fuel.

I'm seriously beginning to think I've already flown (or built) my last airplane. I'm contemplating beginning to sell off. How would I ship this stuff?? Perhaps I would be better off to attend a meet and sell directly?

Andre the problem is hazardous chemical fees.  It can double the price.  It would be better to take it to a contest.  If you still have it and get to Tulsa for the fall contest, I will take protective custody of it.
