Duetto Maiden Flight

We had a nice surprise at our club meeting today. Bob Zambelli brought out his Duetto – for its maiden flight!

This airplane is peculiar in that the pictures do not do it justice. The Duetto is definitely designed to be viewed in three dimensions. The round fuselage, the side cowls, and – everything – work together for a visual impact that is somehow lost in any two dimensional photo or drawing. Maybe Bob can post a ¾ frontal view closer to ground level – that would probably capture the “feel” of the plane better than the pics in the previous posts or this one.
   One thing for sure – it is an original, and it works.   

The bottom pic shows Bob giving his “new ride” a ride in his “old ride”.

I do not envy Bob his Ferrari since my my mildly hot rodded 75 vette will blow the doors off a stock street Ferrari of similar vintage, Except, somehow Bob manages to jam a full sized stunter into the yellow (not red) Italian shoe. The only plane I've every been able to comfortable fit in my vette is jr Flite Streak. Darn it.

Bob is different in thinking outside or on the edge of the box.  Another Bodak kit or will it be plans only?

As far as carrying planes.  My adopted parents I called them had a Corvette early version 2 seater.  He would strapped the Ares to the back lid and the Jetco Mustang went inside.  George and Dorothy Watkins were a perfect couple.  I still miss them also as they made sure I made my first NATS in 64.

Gents - thanks for the kind words. I was really pleased with the perfomance of the Duetto. It flew so well that, aside from possibly narrowing the handle spacing a bit, there's not a thing I can think of regarding trim - it just didn't do anything wrong.

Dennis - I wouldn't bet on it!!! 

But, just what vintage Ferrari did you plan to "blow the doors off"? Mine, 1967 or yours, 1975.

I'll furnish the numbers and you can arrange for the showdown. Should be fun.

Oh, I forgot - it fits nicely in the trunk with plenty of room for two more inside.

I was surprised how large the trunk was on Bob's car. It is a lot bigger than my Mustang Convertable.
