Some of you may know, that Dremel stopped making their great scroll saws. The model 1672 which I own, was IMHO, the best scroll saw for model aviation ever made. For building stunt ships-this was it!!
I just received a copy of the latest Micromark catalog, and on page 3, there is the old Dremel scroll saw!! Apparently, Micromark picked it up under a new name. Micromark seems to carry a number of Dremel tools that are no longer being carried by Dremel themselves such; their miniature table router, etc.
How you build a stunt ship without a scroll saw,I don't know. But, If you need to buy one, the Micromark\Dremel is it.

I have the Dremel model 1830 and am very partial to it. In case no catalog www.micromark.com

Hi Ken,
I'm going to check, but does Micro Mark carry the old Dremel 4" Table Saw? I have never had a 4" table saw, but for some reason, I want one. ;D

No, they carry belts for it. Micromark carries the very expensive, but very good Micromark saw. Bill, you know, that Micromark saw is expensive but, regular table saws are without question, the most dangerous machine in most shops. The Micromark is a heck of a lot safer and, if you can cut most of what you need for stunt without losing a hand, then I figure it's cheap, (I tend to think simply).

I will admit the table saw can be very dangerous but I think the jointer is more so. My reasoning is that while a table saw will cut whatever passes through the blade the jointer works like the tree limb shredders. Anything that starts in them gets sucked in and when it comes through there isn't anything left to sew together.
There is being advertised a new development in table saws. Some nifty inventor has come up with a way for the table saw to sense touching skin and doing an almost instant stopping of the blade. As a demonstration they tossed a hot dog in the blade and it stopped the saw. If you want a larger saw to get more accuracy then check with the machinery dealers. This is brand new technology so you might have to look for it.

Bill, Sawstop is the saw that has that safety feature that stops the blade. Of course it's rather expensive close to 3,000.00 for it but then what's your fingers and hands worth.

Any powered wood working machine is dangerous. My uncle lost a thumb to a band saw. Had class mates in school minus parts of fingers or thumbs. My Dad sad even manual hand saws are dangerous. We need to learn to me more alert and concientious when using any tool. Now my Dremel Jig Saw was bought for me by my wife for our second Christmas together. I have rebuilt it a couple of times now. IMHO, as far as saws go, Radial Arm is most dangerous, and Band Saw is safest.

I have used the Dremel Motoshop Saw 57-2 for about 30 years and as of late the blades are vary hard to find. So for Chritmas wife bought me the Sears 18in variable speed scroll saw and I got to use it before Christmas. However, the next day I found in Sears the blades for the Dremel Saw the part number is 926878 and 5 in a pack.

These folks have factory reconditioned Dremel equipment. I bought a scroll saw last year and it was like new.

I have a dremel old type vibrating PITA saw that everyone had in the 60's on up and haven't touched it in years. Also have a 4 inch table saw. If anyone is interested in them PM me and we'll talk a reasonable fee and shipping.
