Dream models? I'll bet we all have them.
« on: December 01, 2011, 06:59:38 PM »
Sure, I dream a bit.

In fact, a great deal. And this is when I'm awake!

My dream aircraft to model has never changed. Been the same gal my whole life.

Even with ups, downs and setbacks, never once have I slipped. Nope, not me; In a million years, I couldn't fall victim to that "other" model. Sure, inviting as it is, I say no. Others? I see it all the time, they sometimes go astray. Nothing to gain with dreaming about other models, in spite of the short pleasures.

Ah! I see you know exactly what I mean. You know they don't last, how could they? Simply a substitute, a quick build, and then, it's over. Non lasting and sometimes ending with devastating results. The crash!

But that dream model, well, that gal is always there, patient, alert and waiting. Seems like she'll wait forever if necessary. And she does!

My dream model?

The Grumman F3F, But, in my dream, really known as the G22. Been on my mind my whole life.

Here she is and what a beauty she is!. I'll be back to tell you all about her and my dreams about her.

Do you have a dream model?

well everyone has seen mine. I remember like it was yesterday, seeing it in M.A.N. in early 1957, kinda day dreamin and remarking to Hi what a beautiful stunt plane it would make.  I said "every time it did a wingover everybody would run and look for a place to hide."     jim

Not sure just what this post is all about!  If model planes, yes.  I have always wanted to model the Ryan STA.  Yes, I know there are several plans available.  But I want to form an aluminum cowling, and somehow cover the fuselage with aluminum.  I've attempted a cowling, but it didn't look good enough.

Several years ago, I assisted Paul Matt in his drawings and documentation of the STA.  I provided lots of my photos and personal details regarding NC 16097, the Menasco STA once owned by Tex Rankin.  I flew this plane, but I didn't own it!

Still considering it, but I need more metal-bending experience!
