I dunno, rib number 11 looks suspiciously low to me.  LL~ n~ Just kidding, looking great! I'm sure building two at a time is quite the task, I hope you and Dale don't burn yourselves out. Gonna miss you at the Nat's next year I guess, the beer tree just won't be the same. Might have to make up for it at the KOI.  #^

Thank you Mr. Hanna!  I really like the hardware!

Looks awesome Derek!

I take it the aluminium center section forging clears the pipe ok?

I'm thinking the Days Inn for the KOI this time.  The room screw ups with Best Western didn't thrill me last year, and if I remember right the Days Inn had the bar....

WoW! Very cool. I've seen this alluminum take a-part hardware before. Details on where to get it? Good luck at the Worlds, you will do fine, as well as the rest of our team!

I always liked the look of the Dreadnought.

Not that I am an expert on this (by any means) but I always wondered how it stacked up (flying-wise) compared to Randy's other more "popular" designs. (don't take any offense please, I just hear more about the SV11's and such).

Clearly if Derek is building it for the worlds, I guess it stacks up well!

Hey Alan,
In my opinion all of Randy’s planes fly similar. I have flown Dreadnoughts, Staris, Tempests, Evolutions, Shrikes, Katanas, and many of the SV series of planes. The Dreadnought just has a special place in my heart. I have had a lot of success with that plane that is the main reason I am building it for the WC. The Randy designs work really well for me and my flying style.

Way to go Derek, stay with what you are comfortable with.  Looking good so far.  Don't make the others look too bad at the Worlds.

Hi Derek,

I know why you like the Dreadnought!  You have one with a World Championship trophy already hanging on your wall, don't you?  1998 I think it was?

Jim - The good news is yes, Derek did win with the Dreadnought, but I'm afraid there is a very sad answer to your "already hanging on the wall" reference that involves a work shop and a fire, including those items...but Derek or Dale will be the persons to say definitively. I seem to remember them saying it all went up in smoke.  :'(

Hello Jim,

Eric is right that I lost my Gold medal and the original Dreadnought in the fire. They were on the back wall of the shop, the medal was hanging around the tail. I still have the trophy at my house it is a piece of crystal about 8"tall. The town we were in was known for their crystal carvings and statues. I will post a pic. I also have the certificate in a frame on my wall.

Thank you all for all of the nice comments and support!
