Title: Dreadnought getting closer
Post by: Steve Fitton on March 26, 2010, 10:35:21 AM
Wing and tail are in, top blocks on, getting ready to put the tailwheel mount in and put the bottom blocks on.  Its starting to look like an airplane, which always makes the build seem to go faster. y1

That looks real nice, makes me "GREEN" "know what I mean Vern"?  Steve it really looks nice, what does it weigh, and what will power it?   #^

A PA 61 on a Randy quiet pipe will power it, and, as for weight, pundits say it will be stupendously heavy HB~>

I actually decided to stop measuring weights, whatever it weighs when I'm done is what it weighs.  In fairness, its my first full doped finish in about 8 years, my first Randy plane, my first piped plane of any sort, etc etc.  I'm sure lots of mistakes have been made up to this point.  I've certainly learned alot that can be applied to future projects, etc.

Hey Steve! Looking great dude! Don't give up on the weights, or they can creep up on you. Anything under 70 and that plane will be as good as anything out there. Can't wait to see ours both finished and sitting together on the flightline.

Here it is a month later, albeit not much closer to completion.  Canopy is just resting on top of the fuse, the fin is getting nitrate prior to silkspan, etc.  Cowl covered in .5 oz glass cloth.  Time to assemble my Byron Barker paint stand and move the plane over to it......

Ty,

It looks like the T-Rex that was the subject of Steve's T-Rex thread.  It would appear to need a few new parts from Brodak's though!

Looks like the remains of a T-Rex.  At least Steve is getting as far along as I am.  Put the Thunderbolt on the paint stand as soon as I got my shop back.  This detail work gets exhasperating.   Painted the cockpit area yesterday and have two coats of talc & dope on the wing.  Will put some on the fuse after another day or two.  Would you beleive I spent two whole days working on the cowl after getting the blocks glued together.  Another day was spent on just the fuel tank.  Pictures later.  Anyway Steve don't make me look too bad on the building department. H^^

Some one beat me as I am too slow typing on these so called key pads/boards. jeh
