Vultee BT-13 Valiant's
« on: November 03, 2020, 07:05:53 PM »
Opps. Not Douglas Devastator's
They are  Vultee BT-13 Valiant   Around 1938 Downey Ca. airfiled.
Thanks Dan &  Dwayne for the heads up.Went back to the page it was posted on Nostalgic CA. site on FB.
Don't know how a came up with Devastator's. I'll blame it on the time change.

I don't think so Tony. I'm thinking Vultee BT-13 Valiant, r more affectionately known as the "Vibrator."  To my eye the wing isn't big enough to be a Devastator.
  Type at you later,

Yep, those are BT-13's. Nice old photo though.

Interesting link thanks
Did see that a large number of Grumman Avengers are still in flying order being used for fire fighting and a number are for sale from:
https://forestprotectionlimited.com/sales/

The Avenger would make a nice stunt model in my mind.... and looks nice like the BT13 and PT19

I'm having an awful time posting this formation of BTs.

dg

I got it!

These are BT-13As out of Randolph Field near SanAntone where my Dad was an aviation mechanic in the 1940s.
"N" or "S" denotes which side of the base the squadron was located...I think. These Cadets are doing some close formation flying in some pretty bumpy air...look at their facial expression!
