Double Star 40

I just bought a Double Star 40 from a good friend while visiting Pa this past weekend.  I was wondering what are some of the options for a muffler.  I'd prefer a tongue muffler.  I think the break in procedures are the same as for the B40 and I know I saw them posted somewhere but can't remember where.  Can someone help me out?

Hi Sam, You'll be happy to learn that any muffler which you may have for a Fox .35 will fit the DS .40! Which means that any FP .35/.40/LA Mufflers which you've got will also work! Amazing! I truly enjoyed my DS .40 which powered the late lamented Veco Smoothie which I used to fly in Classic! It did have an ST NVA installed and sang a great tune with an APC 9.5 X 4.5 prop! Fuel was 10 11-11 and on cooler days 7.5 11-11.

From Tom, himself:  Add a couple head shims since the engine is set up for FAI (no nitro) fuel out of the box.

I have found a new NVA (PA) and a new venturi, around .295, and a total of 3 shims really brings the DS 40 (plain bearing) to life on 10% nitro in the summer..
