Title: Double Posting
Post by: captcurt on April 30, 2007, 05:29:52 PM
How does everyone here feel about double posting?? ie asking the same question on multiple forums simultaneously.

Since many visit both (alot of) the current forums, it kind of bugs me that we see alot of the same exact questions both places.

Is it just me?? tell us what you think.

Curt

This question has NOT been double posted.  :)

    Curt;

    It may be frustrating but if you don't do it everyone won't see it. Lots of people don't go back and forth from site to site. If it is not posted on all sites they will miss it. If I see it on one site and read it, and jump to another site and it is there, I don't read it again. Simple!

It's more confusing then anything else. Since I've already seen it once, I assume it's already asked and answered. I assume others do the same, so it may cause the thread to die an early death without much response. If posted one place and there were no responses, then ya it makes sense. But, to cut and paste to three or four boards, yikes, what a waste.

I only read this board. Not saying I have allot knowledge to share but I think there is allot like me.

Personally I am annoyed at double (and even triple) posting of a question. I think most of us know about the major boards now and probably frequent all. If I give an answer in one forum, I never repost it in another unless I am p*ssed about the second posting (like they don't believe my response)! HB~>  ok, I know I am overly sensitive!
If some people refuse to reply on a particular forum, that's their business. Personally I will give my 2 cents on any forum, even if I have political problems with the forum, and even if my answer is only worth 1 cent!

Of course double posting an announcement (not question) is reasonable.

I try and just put it on one or the other. It depends on how quick I want an answer. Sometimes one board is more active then another. I do not see a problem with it. Like someone said, not everyone jumps back a forth.
And I am sure that some users just stick to one board.

Of course double posting an announcement (not question) is reasonable.

Sounds reasonable to me.
I try to post the questions that I have on the appropiate board. I don't recall ever not getting at least a few replies. Unless it is a very specific subject, you will probably get more looks on the Open Forum.

OK here goes again;

  This is a double post on this thread meaning I have replied twice. If you have a legitimate question and you want saturation to get the best possible answer what do you do? The answer is you post on more than one "Forum" I see your point if you post in more than one place on the same "Forum". If you lose your dog are you only going to put the notice on one telephone pole hoping that the whole world goes by that one pole? No' you are going to post in different locations to get the best response. If you see it twice and don't wish to see it again, DON'T LOOK.

Different posts for different folks. Now and then I double and triple post. Surprised how the responses differ. Usually I'll let something sit on one forum or another for a while. If there's not much action, I may ask the same question elsewhere. Of course, now that I know it pisses someone off, I may have the impulse to TRIPLE POST ALL THE TIME. But I won't.

I've done it and see no problem. Like has been said the responses vary and not everyone checks all the forums.

Dang, what matter does it make?? I mean, after all, if I wan,t a question answered that is opinion based, I want the most people that I can find to respond....If I want a technical question answered, I go to the closest relavent ex spert.......seems like a rather silly thing to complain about, if ya see it on one forum, and read it, doesn,t mean that there is any law that forces us to read it on any other forum if we do not wish to... Cheers, Phil H^^

As stated earlier, if you want the most input/output or bs, post on more than one site.  There are some sites that do not like my input, so I seldom go there anymore except to see what kind of bs is going on.  This is the number 1 site for me since someone cause Controline Only to go down to who knows where.  Besides if I get off on a political thing I am told immediately here.  Same as if I step on someones toes.  Later,  DOC Holliday
