Jim,
I found the magazine and ordered it and the plan, do you know if they included the long nose/tail version on the plan? I intend to build it as an ignition ship and think the long version will fly well at the speed we fly today (55 vs 85 that Don flew it at).

Steve,
Any information that you could get from Don on this ship would be appreciated.

Dennis; I am not for sure, but I think they supply both the short version and the longer one. Pretty sure that happened after the original piece came out in Flying Models though. I know there are others on here that have built them. Maybe someone will chime in and tell us. I have looked at the plans and thought it would make a great ign. plane also. I have come to like take apart old timers after flying my Taurus for 15 years. What engine are you planning to use? There are many that would work well.

Jim,
If all goes well I will use either and Atwood 60 or a McCoy 49. I like the McCoy because it has nice big ball bearings. I like the take apart also and the external leadouts on the top of the wing. I ordered the FM mag and plans today so we'll see what the plans show.

Either engine should work well. I have flown Atwoods but not McCoy's. But I know the Sam guys run McCoy's a lot. I run mostly Anderson Spitfires which also have a ball brg. on the rear of the shaft. I have also run Orwick 64's, and Super Cyclones. All of them seem to have there own characteristics, which is what makes it so much fun. Just nothing like and old timer either control line or free flight with a spark enigne on it.

Don designed it in 1948 and won the 1949 nats with it.

A few years ago I was planning to kit the Victory long and short versions
but the guy that was going to do the laser cutting (back then) totally
shafted me so they were never finished. I do have a few semi finished
kits that need completion; maybe oneday in the future I'll get to them.

here's the unfinished prototype I had built.
