I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see a big picture of Don Still working on his Stuka in the Chicago Tribune. Also a nice article about him and his hobby shop. The article was attributed to the New York Times so I assume it is available to many papers around the country.
Only thing wrong (slightly) was that CL wasn't explicity mentioned in the article --at least the one in the Trib, but the photo said it all!

I could not find the picture on the web, but here is a link to the text.
Nice story.

Just amazing, I had lunch today in Beaumont but did not have time to go by.

Neat story, but notice there wasn't any mention of the Stuka. I know that he and George Aldrich went to Uof H together, and were fierce competitors, but what year/ how old was he when he designed the Stuka? Seems they could'a included that data. But then again, it wasn't supposed to be about CL, just Hobby Haven.
Thanks for sharing!

I was rooting around here on some older posts and found this post on the original article http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=5765.0.
It includes the photo.

That Chicago article was written by a Beaumont Enterprise reporter. I had a conversation with the author of the original article that appeared in the Beaumont Enterprise. I informed her of the historical contributions made to the hobby by Don Still. I even related the history behind that old Stuka. She expressed interest in what I had to say but informed me that more than likely she would not be doing any followup articles.
I also spoke with Don about the article. He said the reporter wanted the article to relate to the historical significance of the business and it's location rather than about Don himself..
