Anyone have a tip for searching the messages here. When I do a word search it brings back anything with the letters of the word.
I tried double quotations and no joy. 🤓

Seem to remember complaints about the SH search bar being pretty useless, and somebody came up with the suggestion to use Google (or DuckDuckGo) searching specifically Stunthanger. I don't recall exactly what the entry into the Google (or DDG) line was, but I'm sure somebody who often uses either search engine should be able to finger it out. y1 Steve

I have mixed results and just try and use the exact key words through trial and error. I'm not that good at searching in google or yahoo either, but in this day and age it's almost the same with them!! I need to look up some old threads , especially one about a muffler for Cox engines made from old bicycle inner tubes!! There is SEVERAL TONS of information on here!!! Think about how long this forum has been around, and there really isn't anything that hasn't been covered many times!! New comers should be a lot more computer literate these days than they are control line literate and just use the search function right off. Just thing how much was lost when Stuka Stunt stopped working. Many legends on there that were gone before the end came around. The same with this site. I don't think there is any kind of problem you could have with any typical control line airplane, it's construction, finish and flight trimming that you can't find more helpful information than you need, and that includes the electric power plants because they have been around a while now also and the technology has plateaued a bit and things aren't changing as fast. I have been on the list here since it started, whatever year that was, and think about what all has transpired in the hobby from that first day to this one!! We have all lived through some stunt history!! And more to be made yet, hopefully !!

I truly wish we had a better search engine but we don't. Before I ask a question I always try and find the answer using a search. Sometimes I am lucky, but more often than not I end up having to ask the question anyway only to have someone suggest that I search the topic! If anyone knows of a 3rd party search that can give us more options, I for one will use it. We have gone over so many of the common issues so many times. Sure would be nice to be able to put all of those times into one.

I just tried DuckDuckGo search, entered "www.stunthanger.com/canard" and found a thread about a 1/2A canard. I think that's the approximate entry to use in either Google or DDG. I like DDG because they don't report you to the advertizers or internet police. D>K Steve

Stunthangar is the correct spelling. Look at the top of the page. A hangar is a building you keep airplanes in. A hanger is what you use to hold your coats and shirts.

I won't speak authoritatively on this for Sparky, but if I remember correctly, when he first started the forum, it was Stunthanger.com and that is where the google searches DO WORK just fine... as to the spelling gaff, well, the other domain was probably already taken and parked somewhere by someone else so he made do with the alternate spelling. It's not like you get a lot of choice when it comes to picking what might be popular domain names. When you click the header on the home page that yes, spells out Stunthangar.com, it takes you to Stunthanger.com. That is the real domain and where the google searches work.

Ok tried it with the correct spelling and same thing.
Tried on my computer instead of my iPhone. Same issue.
Then went to google on the computer and tried. It worked. Problem is it returned about the same results as searching on the site.
Oh well. 🤷♂️

Read all the comments below the graphic...some have very good tips. One is to use DuckDuckGo. Yes, it's a stupid name, but it's a good search engine and they don't track you or provide ads to annoy you. R%%%% Steve

Just tried doing searches using the SH search. Tried stuntress and canard, with the option for Entire forum selected. Results seem quite reasonable.
Using Firefox on Windows 10.

I’m not saying the search results are not reasonable. Was just looking for way to be more precise.
Unique words are OK but words that are parts of other words are the issue. I’m sure Stuntress retrieves every thread with the word stunt. 🤓

That's not true at all.
A search term that's not in quotes matches every instance of the term AND every instance where the term is a substring of a word.
Today it returns 18 results with exactly that term in them due to the uniqueness of the word itself.
That will become 19 after my post ;D if quoted text in replies is subject to searches as well. EDIT: nope, looks like only the original content is searched. Good for server performance.
However, the opposite is true -- searching for stunt returns 6000 results (such a nice round number, probably the max setting!) where the search term is a substring of words like stunt, stunthanger, go_stunt, stunter, etc., which is obviously a much larger set.

That’s is not what I would have expected.
Try searching for stall and see what you get.

When I look at the address line (https://stunthanger.com) on this very page, it says exactly that...stunthanger is spelled wrong, with only one "a". I would not be shocked to find that it also works when spelled "stunthangar"...because I believe Sparky said he had to buy both domains, and the "two A" version was not available when he first started the site. If both spellings work to get onto the site, then both spellings would likely work if you're searching for something using an external search engine like Google or DDG. :-\ Steve

Doubtful, if it's using a redirect, searching the blank parked site name with two a's is likely to yield very little if anything at all.

Yep.
Search on DDG against stunthangAr gives basically nothing:

Search on same against stunthangEr gives all the useful things:

And that's the way the cookie crumbles.
