RSM wood props are excellent. I have used all their sizes and find they work on a variety of engines. Purchase directly from RSM - they advertise here. Some have good luck with Zoar props. Do a search for their web site. Top Flite Zinger Pros are also good wood props. Tower hobby carries them I have heard some good things about the Brodak BYO props, others may want to add their 2 cents here because currently I don't use them. If you get serious about props you will find yourself buying and trying quite a few. APC (molded plastic) and wood props are a good starting point because they are relatively inexpensive.

One can whittle , thin , repitch and coustomise Timber Propellors . Off Olde , Ye Masters
would endevour to produce pitch varyation in flight , under load . To increase performance .
The idea being they fine off under load to haul the coal up the mountain .

You generally look for one with symetrical grain . And if you must mess with them , Trimming down & thinning
a oversize one , means theres something left when youve finished .

To correct the spelling, it's pronounced "Zoar", but spelled "XOAR".  Eric Rule has XOAR make the RSM props for him, and they are superb. And Top Flite's current wood props are called "Power Point", while "Pro Zinger" props are from Zinger, aka JZ Products Inc. I think both are worth trying, but stock, I think the Power Points are sadly overlooked at your LHS. The American made wood props are generally blunt on both edges and woefully thick. I am a big fan of APC, Thunder Tiger Cyclone, and Graupner props...if they make the right size for your application. APC makes an amazing array of sizes, a huge plus. LOTS of performance in the propeller, if you find the right one.  Steve

I'll second Steve's thoughts here and add one other thought. Props as power trim devices. Consider those thick blunt prop's might just be the ticket to load up and tame an engine that's got a wee bit too much oomph. For instance, I personally found the 11x5 Zinger to work quite well on a ST46, especially when used in a small light classic plane. (not some big foamie, then I usually ended up with a carbon prop trying to get the last bit of power I could out of the poor little ST46) The Zinger was a better (simpler) altentative than going larger diameter, or choking down the engine, etc.

It's always nice to have options, and you could spend a lifetime playing with prop's and observing the effects.

Having just spent 2 afternoons balancing props, I'd say the Zinger props are alot closer to being balanced(from the mfg.) than the TF power points. Some of my 9/5 Zingers were spot on staight from the LHS.

I looked at the "Models" page, and wonder of wonders, there was an ad banner at the bottom that said "Meet Russian Women, Free".  No, not Ukrainian women, but Russian women. And no, I don't think it would be a good idea to click on that link. Some of them are no doubt really fetching, but imports are expensive!  Steve
