Title: DOC's New Kit Part 2
Post by: john e. holliday on May 01, 2008, 06:14:38 PM
Nothing like a gas powered auger to bore new holes as the ones the expert put in did not line up good.  With the wifes help we got them bored and filled with concrete.  That was done on a Saturday and there was no wind or rain, so didn't get to go flying.  This week was getting everything anchored and the sill joice set up.  As the pictures show we had to order some more 2 X 6 X 12 to finish the floor joices.  Also some more ply and studs.  Almost as much fun as modifying an airplane kit.  More later,  DOC Holliday

Doc,

That floor looks way too level for a model building shop! Now you won't be able to go to the low corner, to find all the things that hit the floor and disappear!  ;D

Kidding aside, nice construction.

You should see it in person.  Finished up screwing the plywood to the floor joices.  Got the main entrance framed up and in place.  The other wall on far end is framed up and ready to put in place as soon as I get some strips of plywood laid down.  Some how the building has grown about 6 inches in length.  Supposed to be 24 foot long.  Three sheets of ply on each side with the center sheets having one cut in half.  By the way I think it is easier to build an I-Beam wing than what this is.  Will have more pictures later,  DOC Holliday

You Have To PUT a BUCH of WOODCHIPS AND PAINT on THAT FLOOOOOR so IT LOOOKs like a Mogelers Shop. I am taking bets up here as to how long it will be before you have to build on to this shop. Looks like the boss knows what she is doing! H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ HB~>

Boy am I tired and it is just getting to the fun part.  Got most of the siding up today after church.  Didn't have evening service and I took everybody out for dinner.  It has been slow as I didn't listen to Dad when I was mucho younger and used to do this all the time for other people as well as for himself.  Trying to do crossing duty(only 3 weeks left) and going and getting stuff that is on sale plus sthe extra lumber which I still need more of.  But, here are more pictures.  DOC Holliday

I see one picture is posted twice.  The lady in the photos is the wife, Janis.  With the of my son, JJ,  daughter, Jolene and the wife I would not even be this far.  Last picture until roof is on.  Waiting on the electricians to move power lines.  Notice how the stack of wood has decreased.  DOC Holliday
