June 1973 AAM magazine copy
« on: January 26, 2022, 01:38:14 PM »
Hey modelers,  I am looking for a copy of the June, 1973 American Aircraft Modeler.  If anyone has a copy they might be willing to part with I would love to have one.  Al Rabe had an article on Bipes For Stunt in it that featured my old Fox 59 powered biplane and a buddy and I might just decide to partner up on further developing the beast,

  I probably have that one, and I saved it primarily for that article. You are welcome to it, if I can find it (which is by no means a sure thing).

I do not have the magazine, but I have a copy of the Rabe column in my file.  Evidently, this 2-page article is too large to submit here.  Can someone explain how I can downsize these files?

 Hi Will;
    I thought I had an extra copy of that issue but have not found it yet. I have one more place to check in my storage locker down the street, but it's too darn cold to empty it out to get to the boxes where it might be and I'm not sure at all if there is one in there. It's a small collection that belonged to a club member who's estate we liquidated and I'm not sure what is there. I did a quick search on eBay and found this;

https://www.ebay.com/itm/154181350262?hash=item23e5ecb376:g:s-0AAOSwcU5fpcmk

    If you just want a copy of the article I can help you there or you can download it from the AMA library and archives. There is a web site out there on the internet that has digital copies of some older magazines, I just can't remember the name.

   Good luck with the search,

What a treat looking through those old mags and adds.  I was 10 and remember so many of those kits and planes that were too cool and EXPENSIVE!

Howard Rush wrote the combat column on page 25.

You guys are all heroes to me with your quick replies and willingness to help!  I got the PDF from the RCmagazine spot and we can certainly work from that.
Special thanks to, first, Brett for being willing to let one go that he saved just for that article, then to Dan for (almost) being willing to get cold, and all the rest of you for helping. H^^
And of course, to pmackenzie for the final coup!

Not to hijack Will's Thread, but wanted to share my biplane stunter.  A Don Hutchinson designed profile with LA 40 engine.  It flies surprisingly well.  It is not fully trimmed yet, (life gets in the way thing) but shows promise.  If you have not tried one of Don's designs you are missing out on some cool airplanes.  If I were to build another one the only thing I would change would be to widen the landing gear one rib bay each side.  Takeoffs are no problem but maintaining control on roll out can be challenging.

Good for you, Joe!  That looks great and like a really fun ship.  Do you have another one in mind for the future once this one is trimmed out?  I have a SBC-3 Helldiver profile with a LA46 that I need to put the outboard lower wing back on and do some more trimming, but have pretty much stopped flying for right now. Please don't ask why the lower wing is detached, it's embarrassing. HB~>
