Read close! Do not send me invites to facebook or anyother personal net work. I will not accept them and I will block your email address. I will not partake in ANY web service that is part of government monitoring programs. Yes facebook is!

I suppose I don't care if they are watching or not. I'm pretty boring. Maybe they will croak from boredom.
-
Never been on facebook, and I don't plan to be. I don't have time anyway, I'm on here too much! ;D
-
you and me both Randy,, lol let them have whats on my facebook page,, LOL, kids,, grandkids,, a few picts of my models so my family and friends can see what I do,,
-
I don't care if they're watching or not. What's on facebook that someone couldn't find out anyway? Besides, how could the possibly be watching all the people all the time? If you're really worried about being watched, better not even leave the house or use a cell phone. Especially an iPhone like mine. They can be tracked from what I hear. I keep my tinfoil hat on at all times, so I'm safe.

Rather than facebook, I'm more concerned with unconstitutional legislation that invites "monitoring" of other private activities and our more private communications or threatens personal security for all. I have a facebook page on which I put much "stuff" that's free for the asking or is there whether or not others like it. Everything's public there. That also includes my "travel-at-your-own-risk" political opinions. I'm 67 now and the years are flashing past. So I have my fun and keep the political stuff off of model plane forums (this time being a rare exception) and our club newsletters, which I produce. Search engines like "Google," internet browsers, and e-mail servers, all seemingly vulnerable to corruption, worry me more regarding invasion of privacy. We travel there - and perhaps even here - at our own risks. Social networking things are among the least of my worries, although I can see anything being a springboard to something worse. 'probably too late to reign all this back in, since so many folks want to control others' lives.
-
I'm sure there are bazillions of higher priority targets on facebook than me! Anyway, since I can't delete my FB account.....why bother? All my old girlfriends would likely be peeved if I did that anyway! As soon as we clean up the mess we made with the last election cycle, things should get back to normal. ;D
-
facebook is lame enough on its own to merit never "joining"..
However, it does provide another advertising stream (because, you see, we don't have enough already).

PS - And Randy, your "boring" life is fascinating compared to mine. At least you know how to make a cowl..

This is a warning to all the younger guys here! New employers are requiring you to give your user name and password to your social media accounts. So they can harvest any information you have ever added to your pages. Some will say I have nothing to hide. Well how about people on your friends list? So best advice is don't do it! DUMP these sites ASAP.
-
Robert is right on that. Employers and others do look at your social media sites, often to get an idea of your opinions. So don't post stuff online that you wouldn't want EVERYONE to know.
-
I keep wonder who this Donald Schultz could be that is using my FARCE BOOK ACCOUNT? At least they should spull my naame rite or use my real face? LL~ DV^^ f~

The real problem with facebook is that they will NOT remove your name from their database regardless of how many times you request them to.
Clancy
-
Of course FB won't remove your name. Your name on a list is the only capital that the company has, FB is worthless otherwise.

And yet, facebook was recently "worth" how many bazillions? That is, unless you were one of those Preferred Customers of several of the top financial houses who provided you with inside information about the inflated price of facebook. (Nothing to see here, no one went to jail, nor was even charged with a crime..move along! Nothing to see here..)
Martha Stewart wasn't involved..

Mark : "a few pics of my models "
Please.......... a few ?
Your facebook page is a shrine to that Avenger - I couldnt beleive someone could post 3,480 photo's of one model from every conceivable angle / time of day and lighting.. y1
On another note ;who cares if the government read my facebook page - if they are really interested in knowing that I had a bacon and cheese sandwhich for lunch - then so be it.

And nobody else gives a sh*t either, so what's the purpose of posting it there?
facebook is the vehicle to expose the drivel of most people's lives that nobody cares about. I have a whole family of grandkids. I have a whole gaggle of friends and acquaintances. I really don't want to know what they had for breakfast or if their last bowel movement was soft or hard.
Not to mention the privacy invasion enabled by using the technology.
-
Hmmmmm....
Actually, I don't go on facebook anymore because it's completely boring...but I worry more (a lot more) about these damed little invasive "bots" that appear on my computer from time to time. Yes my software catches them (I think) but then again one always wonders if it really gets them all. Some of them are very sneaky and will send most info on your computer to whomever they are programed to.
Privacy today is pretty much a joke, unless you want to take your dog, gun, horse and move into the hills!

Looking thru this thread again, I think back to when I was a communication person with good ole Ma Bell. Southwester Bell Telephone to be exact. Watched the technology grow and always laugh when someone talks about privacy on their phone calls. Back then the calls were on lines thru the office. When testing circuits and hit one with conversation we were supposed disconnect immediately. With the new age and technology all calls were recorded electronically. Especially on call traces for the police, fire and government. All you guys/gals that think your cell phone is private, better think again, as my oldest grandaughter found out one day she tried to deny a charge brought against her. These computors and web sights are being monitored all the time and being recorded some where, even if you think they are not. A web sight address can be monitored and recorded just like the old land line phones. So if you don't want to get in trouble, think a little more about what you post or send on a computor. I hate to think how much more sophisticated it is now. H^^
