BJMR Hi Johnson Stuka Kit
« on: November 10, 2015, 03:44:47 PM »
Hi All,

I am interested in building an electric version of the BJMR Stuka.  I came across a very negative review of the kit which stated that the only useful items in the kit were the canopy and the plans. These comments seem to have originated in Australia.  Before I spend $164.00 for the kit I would like to know if anyone else has had a bad experience with this product?

Thanks

This is not like the Hi Johnson stuka, only thing close is the wing. I have Hi Stuka and original plans, fuse is not same measurements nor stab, push rod is outside, fuse has different movement . I bought a BJRM kit and was disappointed for sure.  The wing is a lot of work to build for a plane that doesn't turn good. Make me an offer and I may sell the kit to you, never been touched. There is a lot better planes to build for electric.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your response.  Now I have seen two negative opinions.  The other kit I am considering is the Brodak Vector 40.

Thanks

The Vector 40 kit is excellent. Well engineered, relatively easy to build, and winning design. Many have been both in both IC and electric configurations. Another good one along the same lines is the Legacy 40. Yes, I have built both.8)

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the BJMR Stuka canopy.

I've got a Hi Johnson wing built and covered and I don't much feel like making a plug to pull a canopy.

If you really want to test your modeling skills, build a Hi Johnson Stuka sometime. The wing is an absolute nightmare.

Picture at "BMJRmodels(dot)com". Note BMJR not BJMR. Plane looks nice, canopy not very detailed but appropriate for stunt plane. Write up states ribs have tabs so wing can be built on flat surface which would make it a lot easier to construct than the original. Surprised there is not more interest in this kit although the high price and classic era time frame with less than Nobler performance may have something to do with it.  8)
