Dizzy? Try this!

This is amazing! I know a couple of guys that no longer fly because they get dizzy spinning. This chair could really help them!

That won't keep them from getting dizzy, just keep them from falling over.

A few weeks ago we went to a guys house to fly. He is not very sure of himself as to getting dizzy so he has a steel fence post at the center of the circle. I moved away from the post about 6 feet and flew as normal (poorly). There was something about seeing that post go by in my peripheral vision that I got dizzy, which I don't normally do.  Another seasoned long time flier got so dizzy that he fell down.

There's an article in the latest issue of CLW about this seat.  I have not yet tried it, but it works quite well for those who have.  When doing maneauvers, just put one foot down to stop the chair.

As mentioned in the article, the chair has allowed one of our club menbers to fly again after injuries forced him to stop.

Back in the mid nineteen fifties, some speed flyers would "whip" their planes to record faster speeds. FAI or AMA came up with a solution to install a post in the center of the circle with a "U" shaped yoke at the top. Timing would start when you placed your hand in the yoke. If you get a chance to see a speed contest, watch the guys jump around that pylon to keep up with a speed plane.

I don't think this old guy could do it!

Perhaps holding on to your friend's post with your free hand would provide some stability.

Great peice of video, but, watching in person is the real thrill.   Especially when they get the Dyna Jets out and start flying.  If you ever have a chance to watch a speed contest, do so.  It is not as easy as it looks.  Right Joey M.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday
