Title: Difficulties with \towers search facility
Post by: Andrew Tinsley on July 16, 2012, 06:19:23 AM
Hello,
There was a time when I could pull up a complete list of OS spare parts on the Tower Site. Now I just can't seem to be able to do it anymore. I want for example an OS NVA for an FP20. Put in FP20 and no joy! It is there under OS part no 22311000, but you need to put that in before the search engine confirms that it is there!
I used to be able to pull up a list (condensed, no photos or prices) of the entire range of OS spare parts, can I still do this? If so, how?

Regards,

Andrew.

http://www.osengines.com/parts/xr12301.html

Tower doesn't list parts for obsolete engines that they have no remaning stock, but...

If you go to www.osengines.com, click on "Parts lists and manuals" (bottom of page),
then click on "Parts listings for discontinued engines" (top of page),
scroll down and find your engine and click the blue link.

Hello Douglas.
I think you have missed my point completely! What I am trying to find on Towers website is the parts that they DO have for obsolete engines! Not much point doing the reverse! I am fully aware of the OS listing of their old engines and parts, but that is of no interest to me.
Towers now have a search system that seems only to find parts for current engines, when they DO have some stock of spares for discontinued engines. If you know the OS part nos then you can find if they have it in stock! I used to be able to see a total list of ALL available spares for any given make of engine, whether they were for current engines or not. It is trying to get at this list that I coukld do with some help!

Thanks,

Andrew.

Thanks Douglas,
I can certainly try calling but its a transatlantic call, so not cheap! I just wondered if the search function on Towers has been changed? I could certainly view all their spares for current and non current engines last year.
Maybe its senility creeping in and I am not up to such things anymore!

Regards,

Andrew

Try this and you will find what you are looking for (in the bottom part of this page of Tower's site, under the subtitle product categories):

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0002p?&M=OSM

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0091p?&P=SM&C=GMG&V=OSM

Luiz

PS: You can find these pages under the title "Browse O.S." in any Tower's O.S. product description page.

Andrew, I am no help but I can supply support to your complaint. I have had this problem with Tower's site for some time. It is becoming incresingly difficult to find parts on their site. Sometimes they pop up under more like this and then othertimes I cn't find an OS part that I know they have. I feel your pain.
