I just looked in the mailbox and found my latest issue of Flying Models, and I didn't even need to open it up to know that I've just recieved another great issue. Right across the top of the cover is "MEPS 2009", which will be coverage of the great Multi-Engine Profile Scale contest from Tucson. I'm certain that it will also be accompanied by some great photos of the event as usual. As typical for me with FM I've set it aside for just a short time until I can grab a chair, settle in uninteruppted, and likely read it cover to cover. This will happen yet tonite. Thank you again FM! ;D ;D ;D

Yep, that Flying Models magazine just keeps on covering almost everything, while still being in the unsubsidized FREE MARKET system. Covers all disciplines and just keeps on perking. Heck, there are some pages that don't have advertising.
I have subscribed for more years than I can remember, and will keep on doing so.

It would be nice if AMA gave us a choice of there mag or FM with membership.
LOL ain't gonna happen.

Frank Fanelli, the editor, told me they specifically laid the magazine out so the features are all on advertising free pages just so you don't have to turn to the back of the book to find the rest of the article. Ads go to fill in and around stuff that doesn't take up a full page. Very reader friendly.
I still look at most of the ads, even the ones for stuff I'll never need.

Still the best all around model airplane magazine going. Really enjpyed the multi engine 1/2A scale report. H^^

4th Annual MEPS gathering, Tucson, Oct. 16-17. Circle 3 (the new, smooth one) at Silverbell. C'mon out and enjoy the fun. Some pretty exciting replicas on tap, so we hear.
Almost forgot: it might be nice if all who love FM drop a letter or e-mail to Frank Fanelli and tell him so!

I know Frank is probably very busy, But he could come here and keep up with control line. But, then again you do have a great idea. Will get a note off to them later. H^^

I just took a minute and sent this note to Frank through the FM website. I encourage others here to do something similar, consider it just our two cents if nothing else. My comments are meant to only include model publications that are currently available on the newstand, and not to offend any of our SIG publications.
Here's what I sent...
This is long overdue, but I just wanted to drop a quick line to thank you and your staff for providing the best Model Airplane magazine in publication. I am a Control Line builder and flier, and greatly appreciate your consistent acknowledgment of our segment. I also appreciate the build articles and pertinent, uncluttered advertising. I could go on and on. I consider all other newstand model magazines no more than advertising fliers anymore, and Flying Models is the only one still true to it's roots. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that fact, and I look forward with great anticipation each month to my latest copy arriving.
Thank you very much,
Wayne Willey
