Flying Lines just says "email for information". Is this on? Who's going?
(I plan on going, hopefully for both Saturday and Sunday)

August 10-11
Dick Scobee Memorial, Auburn Municipal Airport,
16th St. NE and D St. NE, Auburn, WA
Saturday: Old Time*, Classic, Profile*
Sunday: Precision Aerobatics (Beginner, Intermediate, Adv., Exp.)

The asterisk denotes house rules. In the case of Old Time at our field, you gotta have a muffler for IC engines.
There's some carrier, too.

Woo hoo! If I can figure out how early to set out Saturday I plan on flying profile. If I can find a cheap hotel I plan on flying PA on Sunday.

The boys and I plan on coming. I'll have Nate bring the Skyray you gave him. He did crash one of them Saturday at the Chehalis Air Fair. I don't know if it was the one you gave him or the one he built. He should have it flying by then.

Why? I was crossing into Canada at about 6am, and arrived at the Rice Mill Rd. field at 6:54am, 6 minutes before I was expected. Varley and I went off to Tim Horton's for breakfast...ugh! I got up at 3:30, showered, shaved, loaded the ice chest into the truck, and was outta here before 4:30am. You can do this! ~> Steve

And I, once again, won't be at a contest. I will be driving back from Idaho on the Sunday the event takes place.
Man, my timing as been horrible this year.

There should be a flyer on flying lines. We will have OTS, Classic, NWProfile and Carrier on Sat 8/10 and
Beginner-Expert PA on Sun 8/11. If you haven't been to Dick Scobee field (Auburn Airport) you are in for a treat. The airport ramp is dead flat supports 2 circles with pits. The airport is gated but club members will be there to let you in. It will be open Friday 8/9 all day for practice. It is just off of 15th ST NW in Auburn WA and is surrounded by places to eat and several hotels (ask for recommendations).
I should also note that we will be having a barbeque get together at Mike Haverly's place Saturday after the contest. Lots of good food and company.

Weather is expected in the 80's. Should be a great weekend and I'll have ice and beverage in the coolers and burgers on the grill. Oh yeah, there is a contest too! As far as I know we'll be able to practice Friday afternoon, or at least I will be. Please come if your able, you too Dan!

I heard from Varley that he and Alan R. are coming down Sunday AM, and I expect the same from Chris & Joan. My suspicion is that they're all dodging the trumpet/violin concert, not the free burgers. It would be great to see a bunch of folks from Idaho, BC and Oregon come and get introduced to what is probably the best stunt venue in the NW. y1 Steve

Does anyone who is coming to the Dick Scobee Memorial have any spare 13 x 5.5 Electric Pusher props they would like to sell me? Don't know if my order will be here in time. Thought I had a half dozen, but they are the 13x4.5 F2B props.

Hi Tom, I should have a few 13 x 5.5 APC's with me as well, although I do not plan to be there until Sunday (the idea of listening to Rex play his trumpet at Mike's is just too much the bare <=).
Tim - we missed you here in Vancouver. Too bad you couldn't make it up, we had a lot of fun. Look forward to seeing you in Auburn.

It was good to see you again Tim. Hope we meet up next month. Maybe I'll practice and enter Beginner. The boys and I were going to go flying tonight but my sister got here late for hair cuts. We need to practice a lot. Nathan was working on both the skyrays today.

For those of you who are wondering, I forgot the triangles so completely in my first flight on Saturday that I was experiencing that Really Good Flight glow as I was bringing my plane off the circle. Howard made sure to ask me in his gentle and caring way* if there weren't 15 maneuvers in a pattern, and didn't the triangles come after the outside squares?
The manner of pointing out my error may have been a bit cruel, but I did remember the triangle in all my subsequent patterns.
* I can't say s**t eating grin on a family-oriented group, right?

If you're going to forget anything, make it the RWO, like Mark Winz did. You get charged with an attempt and get to go back up again. Howard is the only other person I've seen pull that trick...to get a practise flight in after the pilot's meeting... LL~ Steve
