Dick Scobee Memorial, Auburn, WA pictures

Some pictures of the planes flown at the contest today by Allen Tucker.

Alan Resinger of Delta, BC won Expert with his Classic "Gypsy" with Stalker .61. Pete Peterson placed 2nd with his Saturn/piped OS .46VF, and Randy Powell 3rd with his RO-Jett .61 (?) powered "Slider 4.0".  Keith Varley won Advanced with his eSultan (Norm Whittle design & setup), Rick Cockrun 2nd with his 1:1 Scale Profile Impact with a Saito .56, and an old guy placed 3rd with a Super Twister/Magnum XLS .36.  Rex Abbott won Intermediate with his Saito .40 powered profile Strathmoore (can I say that?) and Jack Mullinix won Beginner with his really nice new Pathfiner/.46LA combination.

The BBQ at Mike Haverly's was worth the entry fee! Special thanks to Mike and Mieko! Thanks to Howard Rush and Pete Ferguson for being Co-CD's, and Dave Gardner for toiling over the computer both days to make the trophies. FWIW, Howard's latest software is working well. It saves the contest staff a lot of hassle by printing out the scoresheets, giving random flight orders, and prints flight order sheets for the contestants, so we know when it's our turn to show our skills or lack thereof. Rod Claus devoted much of his weekend to pull-testing, but also flew well in Advanced, but had a few technical issues.

Judges: Mike Haverly, Pete Peterson, Bruce Hunt, Dan Rutherford, and myself. If I missed somebody, holla!

Maybe Pete Ferguson or Howard will post some pictures and the full Monty results. It was sunny and hot in the 80's, with balmy shifting breezes and much frustration for pilots and judges alike.  y1 Steve

Fun contest, wish I was there.  Glad to see Keith is fully functional after his mishap. I think I know the old guy who was third in advanced?  And good to see Rex win something. He works hard at it.  Also nice to see our Northern neighbors coming out on top in a contest.

We had plenty of help, making it a quite enjoyable contest.  It was great to see Peggy Parker back in operation and to have so many old timers come out.  Here are the results:

Edit: I just noticed that Bob Emmett's Old Time score isn't right.  Gimme a scoreboard picture, and I'll fix it.

Mark,

Just engine problems in the second round. Looks like the motor will be out of commission for a bit.

First of all....TALK ABOUT THE POWER OF PRAYER WARRIORS! Just to see PEGGY PARKER who was in attendance and doing so well toward her recovering from the brink of The Edge of Glory Land.

GREAT TO SEE SO MANY OLD FRIENDS..during my brief stop by on Sat morning.
Great to see JOE  DILL ...all the way from Spokane with his AWESOME NEW KOSTECKY RIDE! Also to see both he and his old Dynamical CUSTOM CHIPMUNKS Duo flying partner BOB WELCH in attendance on Sat.
attached are a few lower resolution shots of Sat.

YES! WE ARE TRULY BLESSED TO HAVE PEGGY BACK AGAIN WITH US...
Another shot of  Peggy  seated with long time friend Gary Letsinger....(note the sign behind) Wonder if this pertains to so many of our retired "SNOWBIRD" friends here in the NW?

next shot is of Bob Emmett's wife Ginny who TBT GOD has also recovered recently
from surgery and is doing well.

Wow, what was the problem? It sounded like a "minor" crap in the tank sorta thing. I hope it didn't eat a circlip.

And sorry if I got the name of your plane wrong. I just can't keep up with them all. You gotta slow down, young man!  H^^ Steve

Steve,

Well, a tank leak and I'm suspicious that the poor thing may be wanting new bearings.
