Adjustable Leadout on a Bislob (Got any pictures?)
« on: August 10, 2023, 05:35:16 AM »
I did a search on adjustable leadouts for a Bi-Slob and didn't find any results that fully explained or showed what I was looking for. I recently had someone suggest putting adjustable leadouts on our Bi-Slob. The suggestion came with referencing carrier planes and how they use the slider (I think that is the right term) to adjust the leadout position and increase yaw that allows for more of the hovering effect. I am hoping to get two things with this post.

1) Someone explain if the leadout goes closer to the leading edge or further from the leading edge to get the carrier yaw effect (I think it is further but don't want to assume)

2) I would love for some people to post a few pictures of how they secured the adjustable leadouts considering that the Bi-Slob doesn't have a lot of structure to secure adjustable leadouts (I did see a few pictures in some of the other threads, but would like to see more)

Finally, my 13 year old son has flown/crashed his Bi-Slob a couple of times and is really wanting to get the hang of things. If you got any other suggestions or "good to know" tips, we're all ears. Also, a special thanks to Justin Anger for trading us the Bi-Slob last year at the Cleveland Stunt Championship. It has been a real joy for my son.

The BiSlob can stop and hover and even do touch-and-goes with the stock leadout position.  There is no need to move it.

Sliders on carrier planes are used to achieve a fast high speed and a very slow low speed.  BiSlobs just fly slow all the time.
The picture I have on file was from a test fit before the STOCK interplane struts were installed.

Adjustable leadouts are mostly for optimizing the performance of contest stunt planes.
They have become something of a religion that is applied where not needed.

As Paul says, build your Bi-Slob stock and fly it.  It is fun when on a day you have a little breeze and do the reverse wing over the wrong way.  Seemed like it was never going to get over the top.  D>K
