Diameter of flying circle
«
on:

When building a blacktop or concrete circle for C/L precision aerobatics, what diameter should the circle be, in order to accomodate all plane sizes? At least how much distance should there be between the edges of two adjacent circles?
Thanks.

Minimum 180' diameter for circle plus buffer.

Thanks.
I also received some drawings from Steve Pollock that show all of the dimensions. Thanks Steve.

You really need a min of 20 feet buffer between circles too, more if possible

The actual black top should be minimum of 160' diameter, and then edge-to-edge of adjacent circles should be another 20'. Do not go any less than the suggested 80' radius.

wow ? I would have thought the flying circle was just 120'.
I've never seen bigger. I say this because I remember guys whom flew anything on 65' lines would have sto stay at the back of the pilots circle to keep from being off the circle.
But that was when I flew in NYC in the 70's

You have 70 center of plane to center of handle
then you have the outer part of the plane
and the pilots arm lenght
then you have a center circle that the pilot can walk around in
...more than 120 feet
