Well, Nobody ever said you have to be smart to fly R/C.  I think a glove on your hand or a chicken stick works better!  LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

Well I can't say it's the dumbest thing I ever saw because I spent 11 years in the Army!!!
Lots of smart guys there and some that aren't quite so much!!!  Ask me about the guy that tried to pick up his M16 by kicking the edge of the stock!!! Hooo Baby!  He forgot the bayonet was attached!

Wow, just wow. Looked to me like he was trying to flip it backwards too.

I bet he comes back next week with something electric.  I have watched this several times, and he IS trying to start it backwards.  Plane looks like a Chinese ARF.  Hot glued planes really can't stand being kicked around. I'm also wondering how much he might be asking for the engine as he returns his hobby quest to Bass fishing.
In my 65+ years of modeling mistakes, this is one I never thought about trying.

Well, actually back flipping or Backfiring is a very common way to start a large engine.  Most stunt fliers and nearly all combat fliers start that way to get 1 flip starts.  A slight flooded condition ( the keyword here is slight) pull up on compression and give a quick flip backwards and it will nearly always result in a solid backfire that instantly starts the engine in the right direction.

Look carefully and you'll see that this Bozo simply missed his mark with his fat #12 and kicked the top of the spinner.  His buddy must have had a death grip on the airplane or it would probably have flipped the airplane over!  My daughter always says "Dad. You can't fix STUPID!".  How right she is.  n1 y1

I'm still laughing as I have seen that with some modelers, not only RC.   Looks like he needs some education about engines.   Don't know if I want to be around if he does get the engine running.

I am with Joe.  In all my years of flying model planes, I can never recall seeing something like this.  With electric starters, chicken sticks and gloves, I could never see a reason to do this.  Just when you think you have seen everything, you realize you haven't.  LOL

That firewall, etc. pulled out so easy it's best it happen now on the ground, just can't see it staying together in the air. He is obviously afraid of the engine hence the kick starting.

I like the way the guy shooting the video is laughing so hard he can't breath and sounds like he's choking! I wonder what gave him the idea that this was the proper way to do things????

His technique would be much better applied to stomping garden snails. Some people are too rough on their equipment!
