Seems there are a few who cant play well. I received a message that really Tee'd me off so now its gone. No whining!
-
Well gee, thanks to whoever sent it. For the most part, quite a few of us actually got a kick out of it. Sad turn of events.

I never visited it but given some of the "debates" we can get into on the regular forum I'm not surprised that it may have gotten out of hand. Intelligent active folks often have hair trigger tempers and don't like to be personally criticized.
I guess that's why I never went there. I get irritated enough sometimes on the regular forum. My "anger" fortunately never lasts long and I'm very forgiving. Some folks are not unfortunately.
Too bad...but frankly I thought it was a "Bad Idea" in the first place.
You are to be commended for at least giving it a try Robert. I'm never in favor of censorship but at least civility must be maintained. Nothing is ever going to be all sweetness and light however. Even Churches can not manage that!
Thanks for the forum and I hope it continues for a long time. It's a very valuable asset to the CL Community!

No loss and it was just wasted space here in my opinion, I come here for Control Line Modeling.
There's a million other forums out there for people who want to waste their time "debating" all of the other BS in the world. D>K

I think most people have pretty good tolerance. But the problem I have is that there is almost continual "picking", backsided jibes, sort of "Eddie Haskell" fake politeness, and it builds up over time. There are only so many of the endless "digs" I can tolerate, and then the "digger" gets all offended as if he had never said anything, "gee, Mrs. Cleaver, that's a beautiful dress" sort of stuff.
Almost every time I have gotten upset it was because of a long-term build-up of irritation (many times over the period of months or years, occasionally decades, like with Peabody), not strictly because of a particular post. I think that people exploit that.

which, of course, is a matter of opinion; which is why it is known as debate.

This site has so much good info about building and flying, I hope it doesn't all go away because of personalities.

I'm with Wayne, it was wasted bandwidth.

Who was the party pooper who complained?
Giving it a fairly "liberal" amount of thought it shouldn't be to hard to figure out.
-
The fact that we all know who Eddie Haskell is says something about our demographic. LL~ LL~ LL~

It might have been better to ban the offender rather than remove the forum. But, that's just my opinion.

I agree. But as past history is evidence, Sparky is averse to banning an individual, no matter how disruptive/ignorant/wrong/.... he is.

Well, at least we can debate not having a debate section. Should be fun.

I was surprises "debate zone" was started at all.
Surprised it lasted so long.
Not surprised it was taken down.
Debates used to be rigidly organized contests of logic. Now they have devolved into shouting matches and sometimes slugging and shooting. One good reason to do them on line.

Yep! Couple cry babies messed it up, everyone else seemed to be doing fine with it..

It was certainly easier to throw a hissy fit and get it deleted, than attempt to make a valid and rational argument. A microcosm of the larger world.
Step 5 of the Playbook: run to an authority figure and claim persecution

Here we go again.

It is like TV. If you don't like what is on a station, switch to different channel.
It is a shame that some people believe in free speech until they disagree with what is being said so: take it away from everyone. This is very sad.

Spot on, Tom - Amen!
It's funny (or is it?) that those who condemn/malign that forum felt the need to post in it and tell others what a waste of time/bandwidth the discussions were ... gee, if you don't like the game, just pick up your marbles and go home!
Unfortunately, a few felt the need to bring in profanity and name-calling, tactics typically reserved for those occasions when the schoolyard bully can't persuade the group with the strength (?) of his logic ...
I'm reminded of a favorite movie line from Braveheart: William Wallace ("Braveheart") as a youth wants to join his father (Malcolm Wallace), who is going off to fight the British; Malcolm tells the boy to stay home and in school. The boy protests, telling his father he knows how to fight.
Whereupon Malcolm replies, “I know you can fight. But it’s our wits that make us men.”
It would appear that calm, reasoned logic is beyond some here.
