I started this project last October and this is where I'm at so far.
Weight is 54.1 ozs. in primer and everything installed.
Bob Hunt foam wing, Tom Morris controls, all carbon .02 vale covered and a Randy Smith P A .75RE for power with a Bob McDonald 3 blade prop.
I just came up stairs from the paint room after applying the base coat white. I have not yet decided on the graphics but it will be a combination of red white and blue and maybe some light touches of purple and green. And since this is a Roger Wildman designed airplane I must put some Diana cream on it somewhere, LOL....... LL~ LL~ LL~
Be safe, stay calm, we'll make it through this.
Blessings

54.1? Allen where did you get the unobtainium? That looks very sharp!

Dave, 54.1.......came in part from a very light wing Bob made. I also had some nice light wood and had little need to go back and fix imperfections. The primer was a lighter paint then I’ve used before so now I hope I can put on light graphics and clear. I’m praying for 60ozs, we’ll take what we end up with.

Allen, nice job, looking really good! Interested in what primer you used? Thanks!

Nice, Roger would be proud.

If you get that beauty out here to th Contest in Roseburg I'll launch & be your pickup man.... is that 54 ounces with the engine & tank?

Looks very nice Allen.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words
John, yes it is with the engine and tank installed. Now comes the big questions, how much weight will I add with paint, graphics and 4 to 5 coats of clear. Praying I can do all that for under 10 ozs.

IF there will be a Regionals. I estimate this lockdown could last easily into May, if not further. John T indicated they will make a decision in very early May as to a go/no go.
Hope we do though!

Paul,
Was speaking as an optimist... for sure it could be cancelled. Maybe a few contest will be relocated to September ?
Allen,
I think you will put a much lighter finish than 10 ounces on that plane.

Allen,
What is the wing area you are working with? What finish are you using - dope or base coat? What clear coat do you plan on using.
Best, DennisT

Looks great Allen!

Looking good!
What was the primer you used? Over what base coat?
Thanks!

One more strip to paint on plus the name "Davis Special too" and my AMA number. Inking, four coats of clear, then the fun begins, :P wet sanding 1200, rubbing out. So far 60.1 ozs.
