David "Monoline Pete" Kruse Has Passed - Monoline Anyone?
« on: April 05, 2020, 01:30:31 PM »
I’m sorry to report my good friend of many years passed away on March 30th.  His obituary appeared today in the Minneapolis Star Tribune and is attached.

Condolences may be addressed to

   Carol Kruse & Family
   4720 Stinson Blvd NE
   Columbia Heights, MN  55421

Carol has asked us to help redistribute Dave’s rather large collection of model airplane “stuff”.  By far the most space is taken up by completed models – 2 Noblers, Flite Streak and Junior Flite Streak, several combat airplanes, a Goldberg Buster.  They’re in various states – some completely ready to fly, some well-used and/or needing repair.

The key, of course, is that they’re constructed with monoline controls.

Should you have any interest in one or more of these aircraft, please contact me ASAP.  The interest is in getting them to people who will use them, and that's probably a small group.  We won't ship them, so pickup in our area is a requirement.

I will in the future offer much of Dave’s collection here in the Classified Forum - everything from building materials, field equipment, and many engines.

Please send one to Bob Mears's combat museum.  It would be a great addition.

Sorry to hear of yet another of our friends passing!

Wish I was close enough to pick up one of the models as I do fly monoline. I hope the models all find good homes.
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Dennis,
I’m sorry to here of Dave’s passing.  He was always a great guy and I enjoyed our conversations over the years and his knowledge of monocline systems.  He was a wonderful person, great flyer, and innovative modeler   Please send me a list of things you are selling.

I'm sorry to hear that, Dave was a member of the Minneapolis Piston Poppers for as long as I can remember.

Sorry to hear the news.  Condolences to his family.  Guess we're all getting older.  Even the teenagers I flew with are getting old.
I remember him giving the combat flyers the willies flying monoline.  Most of the didn't have a clue what to do.  Several times Pete got into line tangles and just kept flying while his opponent was going crazy trying to keep his plane under control.

Unfortunately, monoline control is completely unintuitive and gives no feedback at all(the double twisted wire with a plastic handle and slider).
