Datest and pictures of the history of Fox engines?
« on: August 09, 2015, 08:48:28 AM »
     Hi All:

Where may of down load an article that had the history of the Fox .35 Stunt engines? There were also pictures posted of the  various engines.  I thought it was titled Fox engines all in one place.

                                                                                                                Tia,

                                                                                                                Frank McCune

   Hi Ty et. al.:

The article that I am looking for was posted by a combat publication.  This article had pictures and comments abut all of the Fox .35 engines ever manufactured.  It may have been posted on SSF.

                                                                                                              Tia,

                                                                                                               Frank McCune

Hi Frank. Like Jim said. Here is more info on the encyclopedia:"American Model engine Encyclopedia".  1911 to 1975 (my issue) Author: Tim Daniels.ISBN: 0-9767541-0-X It might be available via Amazon. I find more long out of print books through them. Also the address for the publisher is: American Model Engine Encyclopedia, PO Box 243, Buena Vista, CO 81211  (719-395-8421. email: ecj at chaffee dot net.

Another source is: Anderson's Blue Book. 1911-2005. (4th edition) His address is: Frank H. Anderson, 753 Hunan Street NE, Palm Bay, FL 32907-1604.  No phone or email listed in the book. Hope this helps on all our engines.

For info, back in Jan 2003 on Stuka Stunt limited amount of info on Fox engines was posted.  Start with post # 322757. Hope this helps as well. Ty M>
AMEE -1975 is still available from Tim at the address listed.  A volume II that goes thru 2015 has just been published.  It is an addition to Vol 1.

Frank Anderson who did the Bluebook has passed away and it is no longer in Print.

I had all the Stunt 35s on SSW as noted here.
Frank, You are thinking of Wild Bill Ives History of the Fox Combat Specials on the MACA combat site. I've attached it

In addition to those references, there was an interesting article in Bill Winter's old Model Aviation column about the Fox 35 and how it came to be. You will have to dig a bit to find it, and it was never clear to me how much of Winter's stuff was real and how much of it was a good story.

All the bio's, etc, are remiss in one way or another.

    Hi All:

Thanks for all of the replies! I found what I was looking for and some more.

Ron, that was the article that I was seeking! Thanks

Bill, it is a shame that my in laws moved from Sewickley. The used to live at 329 Pine Road, that is close to you. I could have met wit with you.

Brett, it is often the case that one must dig through information to glean a small bit of truth and fact.  With the internet, the task has become sometimes more difficult and sometimes a bit more easier.

I am tempted to sign my mail, "Question reality" but that may confuse many people! Lol In any case, I must say,

                                                                                  Be well my friends,

                                                                                  Frank McCune
