Latest from the Butcher Shop: It's a Dare Profile Smoothie...aka "Skinney Smoothie". Built for a friend who has little time to build. Finish is silkspan and dope over the wood, Ultra-Cote on wings. Built completely stock except for substituting aluminum LG for the kit supplied wire. 38 ounces with a Randy tuned OS S-35. First flight needed a flap tweek and a reduction in wing tip weight, second flight did all the tricks. Flies like a stock Twister. A good choice for a sport or Intermediate flier who is looking for something different. 8)

Very nice...I love how simple the color scheme is but very, very attractive at the same time. H^^

Looks great! Going with the aluminum gear was a good choice too. y1

Looks great and glad to hear it is working.

I did my first ever horizontal square 8 on a Dare Smoothie. Flew great, I also put an aluminum lg on it.
Built a second one a year ago with the stock wire lg and the plane was jumpy. Took the lg off the older one and put it on the new one and it smoothed out. Funny the lg would help that much, but I guess weight distibution?

That's interesting, could be a change in the vertical CG. affected its flying characteristics. I know I could make this gear lighter by swiss-cheesing it and using lighter/and/or smaller tires but after hearing that I think I'll just leave it alone for now. Thank you to the other posters for the compliments. 8)

Turned out nice real nice Pete. I'm building a pair of .35 Skyray's at this time.

Cool Jim, you will like the Skyray. Smoothie here is worth consideration if you want to an easy to build and good flying stunter with flaps. Say Hello! to the guys (and Emily) in the NMCCLA for me. 8)
