Dallas Texas 100mi Radius
« on: March 31, 2009, 06:27:30 AM »
This Friday and Saturday I will be in Dallas with a rental car and nothing to do. I was wondering if anyone could give me directions were Controlline guys will be flying and hobby shops that I can visit. Anything within a 100 mile radius or a bit more would be great.

The control line field at Hobby Park is in the back past the soccer fields.  It is at Northwest Highway and Garland Road.  Enter by the Sonic on Northwest Highway.  Given good weather, there should be someone flying.  Mikes Hobby is a good shop.

Check out the DMAA website:

http://www.DMAA-1902.org

You will find all the information you need there.Maps to the fields, maps to Mike's Hobby Shop, names and addresses of the club contacts, etc.

If you're around on Thursday (April 2), our club meeting is at Mike's at 7 or 7:30, followed by the real reason for meeting: eating at El Chico.  :)

Scott, Jim, Bill,  Thanks for all the info, I think I could burn a day away at Mike's by the looks of the web site. Thanks for the offer to join you at your meeting and after, at what sounds like a good TexMex joint. Hope to bump into you all on Friday or Saturday.

I will go fly on Saturday if the HURRICANE FORCE WINDS ever stop blowing...

I always thought the wind blew at the park Bradley.  I can remember when there used to be an RC just north of the field.  Remember driving down through the ditch to get to the road that ran parallel to Northwest Highway.  Also was there one day when a fellow was flying a Ragollo wing that was powered by a small gas engine off the back of a pickup truck.  At that period of time there was no fenced between the parking and circles.  Spent quite a few evenings and weekends out there courtesy of the phone company.  DOC Holliday

  Hey Guys-
I hate that it was so windy this past weekend, I had hoped to bump into a couple of you.  Looks like you have a nice field off I-635 for flying when the winds are not approaching hurricane force.  As for Mike's hobby shop it was great I spent the bulk of my time at Mike's and spent more money then I had planed . Next time I'm in town I will try to make my way out to the field and meet up with all of you. Thanks again for all the info.
