Just got word that Hobby Park will remain closed. To the Dallas area guys - where can I go to practice for the Nats?
Thanks.

The Fort Worth guys fly at Greater Southwest Aeromodelers, the RC field, located off Randol Mill Road and East Loop 820 on the east side of Fort Worth. One grass circle. I see no reason why you can't be a guest for a few flying sessions.
There is a gathering planned for tomorrow. The RC guys might fill the place for a fly-in and lunch. There might be some CL guys there but I am not sure I will be there tomorrow.
Sunday morning might be a better time for me.

Crist, I have 10 acres just outside Clifton and normally keep a circle mowed. If you would like to come over you will have the place to yourself (of course I’ll be around to offer any help you may need). Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. 2103922271.

Crist, I was just on the City of Dallas site and the Park Department site. There is no mention of the park being closed. What I found was that organized sports (soccer games) were shut down, but it also said parks, athletic fields, and tennis courts are OPEN. I would go fly until you are kicked out. I may not fess up to being a club member if they ask, though. Don't want to get the club in trouble.

Did you get an email from Patrick today? I thought it said that the Park is still closed.

I forgot them. I'll check them out. Thanks.

I also got Patrick's email saying Hobby Park is closed.

Please re-read Bill Bischoff's post (#3 above).
While I haven't spoken to Patrick today, I suspect he asked about "the park" and the droid in the Parks Department can only think of soccer. The modelers practicing and sport flying are not organized activities. Holding a contest IS, and is why we have had to cancel them so far.

Oregon -- even Portland Oregon -- parks are open for disorganized activities, but closed for gatherings of 5 or more. I can't imagine Texas being more restrictive.

Sorry about the rain.

Yeah, I got rained on this morning.
-
Should have stuck around! It was dry well into the afternoon. :)
-
Bill,
Maybe I should have. But before it rained the air was dead, and I mean dead. For stunt that could mean disaster. Did the wind pick up after the rain?
-
Other Bill here. In our case it got windy right before the rain, and calmed down again after the rain stopped.
-
The air was dead and the rain came straight down in big drops. So I packed up and left around 9:30.
-
Ah, the joy's of dead/calm air. I was at our field Friday and watched Dave T's last practice flight for the day. He helped fly my plane and then he left. I finally put up a flight on my Flite Streak and did add ball pattern as it kept hitting bad air. Finally rolled up lines and left as a storm was coming in. Lighting bolts as I was headed to the highway. Sure glad I fly for fun. D>K

There was one winter around here where every morning that we'd go out to fly, the air was absolutely dead -- there was often enough fog that the RC guys wouldn't put their planes up.
I got a lot of practice doing stunts while walking backwards -- it's paid off at a few contests.

Wescott said "I can't imagine Texas being more restrictive"
and he would be wrong
current executive order comes with fines and imprisonment if you do not comply
-
Not sure where you are, but in our part of Texas we don’t even have to wear masks...

Just a few miles (45) south west in Lampasas sir....your Crawford location has the requisite less than 20 ACTIVE cases...same as my county (10 ACTIVE NOT HOSPITALIZED)...but our gvmt butt heads count every EVER case (34... zero dead) as exceeding the 20

We have an entire thread dedicated to the virus and it isn't this one.
