Dad's Christmas present, '48 Scientific Beechcraft
« on: December 28, 2010, 03:02:08 PM »
I had been chronicling this in the Old Time section but Bob and couple of others hadn't seen it, so...
For Christmas I gave this restored model of my parents Staggerwing to Dad. He had a real one in the 70's and I had decals made to replicate it, used old fashioned hardware, all slot on the screws, etc. Froom spinner, Tornado prop, Veco wheels, tank and bellcrank and Perfect bullet wheel collars. I covered it with cf veil and polyspan, doped it through sanding sealer and spray bombed lacquer primer, Lustrekote primer and color. Jim, Marvin and several others helped make some stuff and acquire some old equipment for it so here it is to you all.

Chris,
I am sure that your dad was surprised. He looks happier than a pig in ####!

You did a magnificent job on a project that I don't think I would have even started.

Happy New Year to you and your dad, and everyone else in your family!

Thanks guys for the nice comments. Dad was afraid I wasn't going to leave it with him! I guess I was playing with it too much.
