Da Dirt is here...
« on: February 10, 2006, 03:06:47 PM »
But wait, wait!

The only reason I registered was to drag all of CL Stunt's nasty little secrets into the open, to thoroughly and with malice aforethought trash the reputations of those with whom I share a common interest.

And I did read every word of the agreement. I was just kidding when clicking on the "Agree" box.

This is, like, such a total, like, bummer.

Dan

PS: Sparky, good move in starting this site! Many thanks from this quarter. Now, where is that 38-page treatise on the 20FP...dan

 Da Dirt,
I have a Mathis Stuka about 75% completed for use of the OS 21FP!
Looking forward to seeng how it works.  I believe it will be plenty of engine for it.
Covering a rebuild of my son's Flite Streak (old TF kit) for use of another one.  Can't find any hayes 3 oz. tanks around here, though.

Dan, Bring the 20fp on if you have the time, I missed most of it on Stuka, a fresh approach to your informative post might be appreciated.

The Hayes 3-ounce tanks are readily available.

Local shops have had no problems in ordering them.

Tower stocks them, so does Hobby People, latter being the preferred source for Thunderbolt plugs.

I think SIG stocks the entire line of Hayes products.

As to posting the 20FP information here, I will do so in the future. As currently written the piece suffers from having been added to over nearly two years.

I will tell you that there are a lot of people who are finally experiencing the sort of run which helps one fly to a higher standard, as opposed to fighting what you are doing at the handle.

Ya ought to hear the latest comments from Larry Fernandez concerning his newest Skyray 35 w/20FP! And it looks cool, too...

Dan,

I guess I COULD order one since I've had no luck here.

The Tomahawk flys great with the 20FP, it has the closest run to the old OS 40VF that I have experienced.  Of course we ran the VF on pipe.  This 20FP does it on the 2030 muffler for those of you that haven't tried it.

I am looking for a "bigger" plane to use it on.  I believe the engine will pull that MAthis Stuka (48") just fine!  Don't really know just HOW big a plane it will really do the job on.  I say that because with it being stock, we get the full benefit of having it's full power (well, close to it) available.  In my view, it's capable of being the powerplant for that "the weather is really too nasty to fly the big plane, so I'll fly this profile" type of set up.  Of course, from what I have already seen, I might not always need the "big plane" at a contest anyway!

The OS 20Fp and Magnum 36 XLS IIA are really changing my thioughts about power trains.  Just wish the FP were still in production!  SO many guys could really benefit from using one.

Put the treatise in the engine section.

For those who can't wait for Dan's treatise on the OS-20 FP, Heman Lee's "Aeromaniacs" site has Brett's article setting up said engine in the tips section. A good read.  8)

Dirt!  Your FP25 will hit the mail today.  No doubt an upgrade from the FP21.  No substitute for cubic inches.

That was quite a surprise! Just who is in charge of bringing back old threads!

Please remember that when this thread was begun it was a whole different world out there on CL-related Internet forums. My posting was also very much tongue-in-cheek although there seems to be little confusion about that.

Thanks to Don Shultz and his pictures maybe we can salvage something here. Take a close(r) look at my Wimpact. Base white is UltraCote and it is a decent material for this application. All of the trim is MonoKote film; not trim sheets, standard film. Applied using the Windex-based method previously discussed at length.

Ah, but notice the model name and AMA numbers are in standard black. The trick is that the blue and red film is the transparent variety. Transparent over white looks pretty good and the transparent over black numbers brings 'em back for another look.

Too bad the model is no more--in fact it was ruined the very weekend Don took his pictures!

Yep. Just pushing around the margins, new model to be 500 square inches. Old one is 450 inches so not a huge change.

Ahem! I don't like correcting Don, but the Wimpact shown in his pictures had not a speck of paint on it. Yes, even the Bad Boy Stunt logo was from film, black MonoKote. Not that I would ever suggest anyone try such a thing...
