Title: Cutting foam wings
Post by: Paul Taylor on June 10, 2009, 04:05:54 PM
I have a lot of respect for the guys that cut foam wings. I have watched all kinds of videos on doing this. The guys make it look easy.

I have tried to cut two complete wings. One for a small sport plane and it did not turn out that great. Still stilling on the shelf. I got templates for a Tutor 2 wing. Tapper on the LE. I went thru a 15 inch block of foam and did not get one good pannel. I get to the LE and I am not sure because the outside template is way smaller I put a diviot in the LE. Dang-nab-it. Rasfrasen ^&#$%... Bleepity-Bleep!

But I will keep on trying till I get a good one.

Myself I start at leading edge and go towards the trailing edge.  That is why I use what used to be cheap foam sheets from the local lumber yard.  They are not cheap anymore or they see  me coming.  DOC Holliday
