Some people swear by it. I do not seal the HL as I make the fit tight I do not think Billy does either but I could be wrong. I do not like the bind it puts things in. Brett Buck I am sure will tell you to seal and maybe he will explain why here.

I think for many planes it may not be required.  ie  they will be capable without them--like Sparky indicated.

I have witnessed quantum improvements in performance tho...especially sealing the flap line.

It is impossible to make the fit close enough to prevent pressure bleed through from high pressure bottom to low pressure top.  Sealing just evens out and improves the effectiveness of the flap. by reducing the available path for pressure crossover.

Especially effective for slightly overweight ships where a little more flap effectiveness is a good thing.  It can also fix some squirly roll activity in corners when nothing else seems to do any good.

I watched it transform a 63oz pro-built ship  from a not-so-good flyer to a outstanding flying model.

So..I would say give it a try, it can be easily removed if it does no good.  It might amaze you.

And yes, it probably does add a little to the hinge resistance but (especially after several flights to limber up the seal) I have found it to be nearly imperceptible on my 66 oz Katana and also my 42oz profile.

FWIW
