Hello,   I have been getting companies I never heard of message me regarding items and services, I did NOT contact them about.   I noticed that I was getting advertisements for items I searched Google for.

I did some research and found that facebook tracks my searches on Google and then uses that information to generate ads for companies affiliated with facebook.

I do not think that is right, so I deleted the account.   It is way harder to delete your account than create one.   I got that done and have to wait 30 days for them to close it.

I consider what facebook and Google are doing just a bad as FLOCK tracking and storing information about where I go.

It really is unbelievable how America allows these private companies to track and store everything about us, what we read, search for, where we go, what we buy, etc, etc.

Every account you create does the just about. Not just facebook.  It's how they make their money by collecting your information and selling it.

That is what cookies are all about. The only way to keep it from happening is don't allow the World Wide Web into your house and keep your cell phone powered off and in a deep hole in your backyard. :)

Virtually every large corporate store/entity does this too. If you think you made some small victory by avoiding facebook, then think again.
Your newer TV, your email account, Your Phone, Your neighbor's Ring camera, the people across the table from you at dinner, ect. Home depot, walmart, Lowes, Amazon.  Your smart electric meter, your water meter, your smart thermostat, your smart-driving insurance tracker. You are in a database and there is an algorithm that is constantly changing and morphing, just for you.

Just enjoy life, the best you can.  My facebook feed is mostly model airplanes and muscle cars.

Yes, I understand that when I do a search on Google for something, that when I return there will be ads for the item I was searching for.   That is data generated within the same website.  However, my protest is that ads and OFFERS were generated on facebook for something I searched on Google.  I feel facebook has on right to mine my data at other sites so they can make money doing targeted advertising.   I can live without facebook.  No problem.  I realize my deleting my account in protest will not change anything, but my world from having to deal with it.

I guess when they get to implanting chips in people so they can be scanned throughout the world, most people will agree since they are tracked so many other ways.

I was discussing something in a conversation on my Comcast email and said, "As the monkey said when he urinated on the cash register, 'This could run into money.'"  The next time I went to Amazon's site, they offered to sell me a cash register.

Congrats. Your life will be unencumbered, and you'll feel better decoupled from that cesspool.

Google is most likely the one doing that. If you have a Gmail account they are the largest data broker. Use a brave browser in private mode and duck duck go or brave search

YES SIR!

I forgot to mention twice I got phishing ads and when I tried to delete the ads it locked my computer and I had to use ctrl/alt/delete to close the browser.   I reported these to facebook and they never replied.  That factors in greatly to my shutting it off.

I bought some plain white Staffort breifs on line once. Next thing I see are male underwear models all over my computer for about a month. Had to search for Ukrainian brides for about three weeks before it got back to normal.

I just stopped using facebook years go when I realized it was the root of a major part of the increasing division in our country. As far as I'm concerned  FB is one of the largest brain rot activities a person can engage in. I'm much better off not participating in that chit.
