What are you guys using, (that is currently available,) for the tail wheel on your planes?
A quick search indicates the DuBro 75TW 3/4" Tailwheel and the lighter 1" foam 100MW Mini Lite Wheel are pretty easy to source.
There are some interesting 16mm and 20mm wheel selections on AliExpress.  Any other tailwheel choices I should start to hoard?
Laser-cut, "Ted Fancher Precision-Pro" Hard Point Handle Kits are available again.  PM for info.

Wheels from a plastic model kit.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.

I stopped using those, both main and tail, because they melt and form flat spots on a Texas asphalt circle.  They narrow ones (main tires) also throw the tire from the rim allot if you don't CA them in place.

Years ago I cruised Goodwill and found a semi tractor toy that had 1/2-in wheels on it. Nice rubber tires. I can either drill proper sized holes in the wheels and use them as is, or I can turn aluminum hubs which is about the right speed for my machining capabilities.

I'm still working through those.

If your notion of "currently available" stretches to flea Bay, there's probably a lot of new old stock tail wheels on there if you dig.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Sullivan still has nice tail wheels and are a little lighter and narrower than Dubro which is also fine.

I haven't checked their website for wheels yet, but they have cut back on a lot of other stuff since they were bought out about a year ago. Their line of fuel tanks is greatly reduced.

Use the square wheel instead of the triangular wheel.

Williams bros Smooth contour 3/4" is nice.
Don't know if the company still exists, but Ebay has them for sure. L

Those are the ones I use. We drill out the hole so that you can press-fit the 1/2A silicone tubing as the bearing. That makes it almost silent when it rolls.
