Yep. It was kitted in Great Bend Kansas around 1946-47. I think Bob Arnette flew a Long Nose Fox .59 powered 48" version of the Maniac at the Olathe Nats and won senior stunt. Custom Models went bankrupt in 1947 or 48.

I found 1 photo so far. The powder coated Fox 35 has a custom backplate that allows mounting to a flat firewall.
Edit: Added new photo.

Elwyn,

Thank you!

Looks like I need to source a set of plans for one of these to see how much of the plane I have. From what it appears I have most of it.

"Does anyone have a set of plans??"     (fingers crossed)

OK...I HAD the plans, but traded them to Don Pendergrast of Florida. He flew C/L scale at the Nats several years ago. HB~> HB~>
Might check on older PAMPA listing for his address & contact info. He used to live in Louisville, KY.
Here is an india ink free hand from a pic on the plans I did onto a wing of a plane I built MANY years ago at the age of 11. H^^

Hope this helps!  H^^

Wes,

That artwork is as correct as it gets!  I will take and post a photo of the Ribs that I have. They have this logo printed on them!

Doc,

Thanks for the research. Odd looking old bird. Would be something very different to show up with today!

Nice to hear that this little unit was produced in Kansas. This is where my original roots are and some of my family still remains. Great Bend was home of the first NRHA race.. so they have their little bright spot in history for performance.

Mark; Go to this site http://myunclewilliestoo.com/ and check with Willie. He has a large supply of plans donated by Donald Prendergast. He might be able to help you.  rog

Thanks Rog,

I  have bought a fair amount of plans from good old Uncle Willie. The last time around a month ago I asked him after searching all his sites if he had a specific stunter I was looking for. He told me to look at his site. When I replied that I had he said he didnt have time to search through stuff just to make $5 bucks.

So.. I am just not going to spend the $5 bucks on a regular basis with the guy anymore.

Looks like decent wing area and tail volume, but with the usual thin wing.

Given the early date and the high wing, I'm guessing that the leadouts run below the wing.  If they ran through that high wing, the vertical CG would cause the plane to fly with the outboard wing up while upright and down while inverted.

Can't say I would either if treated that way. Seems like he might have made mention of where DP was somewhere on the site though. Any Misegadis family in Nebraska?  rog

That's a pretty new photo.  Can you trace it from the AMA number?

That's the late Rusty Brown's "Maniac", flown at a late 1990s VSC.  I have no idea who might have plans today.

I think I photographed it at VSC 16, but it may have made an earlier appearance.

Here are some shots of the ribs and whatever you call these triangles for the fuselage.

The logo on the ribs is a nice touch.  That india ink work in the wing was spot on.

Elwyn, Nice shot of that airplane. Really gives you a different look perspective.
