Title: Custom Made Venturi
Post by: Casey on July 20, 2016, 09:03:00 AM
I have a custom made venturi.
Should I heat up the crankcase to insert the venturi or is it better that I use a lathe to cut away just enough material from the venturi part that goes into the crankcase, apply oil and gently knock it in for a very tight fit

A close sliding fit at room temp would be just fine. If you have to take off less than .001" you can cut a strip of 220 paper and polish it down.

Some engines have more relief to the casting than others so you might find it tighter as it bottoms out and you may have to taper the end. If the venturi hole is machined then no worries.

I would not shrink a case onto a venturi.  Make it with a room-temperature slip fit, seal it with an O-ring, move on.
