Custom Kut Kits

After giving it much thought and having digested and absorbed the feedback you all were kind enough to relay to me, I have decided to pull the trigger on my cottage industry endeavor and am pleased to let you know that I will call the business Custom Kut Kits.

I am very excited about the mission I wish to accomplish with this company. I will strive to offer a unique product made from the highest quality materials I can buy at a competitive and reasonable price. I hope I can make a positive contribution to our hobby and offer a product you will be proud to own, build and fly and have pride in knowing it was made in our country. Due to shipping regulations and taxes that are involved in shipping outside of the United States, I have also decided to only ship within the United States at this time.

As for product offerings I am going to offer two kits during a specific time period and after that time expires, I will offer another two. It is my goal if possible to try and kit only planes that are not in production and being kitted by another kit manufacturer. I do not, can not and will not try and compete with good established companies like Brodak, RSM, SIG and the like. I will always be open for suggestions for planes you would like to see kitted and encourage you to let me know what you want.

For now I am offering only profile planes but that is not to say that eventually full bodied ships may be offered. All my kits will be hand cut by me and about the most advanced piece of equipment I own is a band saw. I take great pride in what I build and build every plane like it was for me. Production time will vary by the amount of orders I will have in house at any one time. I will give you an estimated shipping time when you place an order.

What will make my kits a little different? I will offer them two ways. The first way will be a hand cut kit of all component parts and each part will be labeled to match the plan. Nothing will be in a sheet that is laser cut that you have to punch out. Ribs for example will all be cut, stacked and labeled and taped together. If you have ever bought a kit from Larry Richards you will be familiar with this.

The second way I will offer the kits will be as the first way but with the fuselage and stab in a semi-assembled state. For example I will epoxy the hardwood motor mounts and plywood doublers in place. The wing cutout will be done for you of course in both types of kits and a tail wheel mount with be pre-installed in the fuselage in the semi-preassembled kit. I will also hinge the horizontal elevator to the stab and cut the rudder to fit. If you buy the kit this way, the fuselage, stab and rudder will be sanded smooth to a 400 grit stage. There will be a slight up charge for this labor service if you wish me to do this for you.

The wing will be the same in both types of kits. All components will be furnished to build the wing to a finished state and I will include a bell crank with the lead outs installed in the bell crank.

Now the fun part. The first two planes I am going to offer are the George Aldrich Peacemaker and the Dick Mathis Cherokee. I have had a lot of positive feedback from some of you about these two designs. After we have run our course of orders with these two designs, two more designs will be offered and so on as long as the interest is there.

I will start taking orders after the first of the year for these two kits. To confirm the order a deposit of 50 % of the cost will be needed and the balance before shipment is made. I am not set up for credit cards but I can take checks and money orders

Shipping will be done through priority mail as it is the most reliable method I have found.

Pricing - I still am getting prices on balsa at this time but will announce shortly the pricing in the classified section of this forum or you can e mail me personally for a quote. I will post a notice when I have final pricing done.

Finally I am in the process of working with a company that offers products to our hobby and will be listing the kits and pictures on their web page. Once this is in place, I will also make a post on this.

Well that is about it for now. There will be much more to come and I am excited about the possibilities and sincerely hope this will add another positive avenue for all of us who love this hobby so much.

Thank you for your consideration.

I have set up a new e mail for this business - customcutkits@gmail.com
