Title: Curtis Shipp
Post by: George Albo on February 12, 2017, 12:37:36 PM
Has anyone had recent contact with Curtis Shipp? I have left emails but no answer as of yet. I see that his last post on SH was about two years ago, not a good sign, but could mean anything. I have one phone number I will try on Monday.

Any info would be appreciated, as I wish to buy from him a metal back cover for an nearly new O.S. Max 46 LA I just purchased.  Thanks,

George

I met Curtis several years back at the Paducah contest. At that time he was dealing with some health issues, and was extremely busy with his machine shop business. I forget what industry he catered to, but his shop was a fairly small job shop and he wore a lot of hats there. I think his email listed here on the list may not be the same as his business. Maybe one of the other guys here that know him will see this and fill us in. I have purchased several of his back plates and they are first rate, so I hope he's alive and kickin' still. If you can't come up with a metal back plate, just cut the needle valve bracket off the plastic one, use some sort of gasket sealer on the back plate, and don't over torque the screws, and the engine will be fine. I have several that I run that way.
   Type at you later,

Curtiss was once an active member of our club here in Huntsville. Due to a neck injury, he dropped out of CL.  As I understand it, he still fills orders for those back plates.  H^^

If left with no choice that is what'll do. Thanks for answering!

Ty when I saw that he had not posted anything on this forum for two years, the macbre in me kicked in. I looked at the list of friends we have lost over the years, and was very pleased to find he was not listed. So it's only a matter of time that'll catch up with him!

Thanks,

George

John I tried that email. I'll keep on trying and if he's around he'll answer. I hope he'll understand how popular he is and forgive my annoying him trying to reach him!

Thanks,
George
