Jamie I tried to join this group weeks ago and am still waiting approval. I've even tried sending him an Email, no response. Is there another way to contact Curtis?

If you can't get approved by any of these groups but know somebody in these facebook groups, send them an email or PM and get their specific attention. It's strikes me as a weird way to do it, but apparently any member can approve the request. The moderator may still have other ideas and boot you out, but it's unlikely!  ;) Steve

What's the benefit of the replacement backplate?  As mentioned in another thread, I have one, but am curious as to why it is needed.

The original ones are plastic, as they age they crack or can be difficult to get a good seal.

Just seal the plastic back plate with a good silicone gasket maker, and make sure you use some flat washers under the heads. They don't need to be super torqued either, especially if you get some of the gasket maker on the screw threads so it acts like thread locker. Do that properly once, and unless you crash a lot, you can forget about it for a long time. If you are using rear needle valves, try and find some that use the metal bracket in place of the flat washers there.
   Type at you later,

Check out Stuka Stunt there is a post there about the back plates.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.

I agree with Dan on the plastic back plates.

I use the black rtv and them a dab on each of the screw threads and snug them up.

no problems.............

works a treat
