Current source for small parts in bulk?
« on: October 25, 2024, 08:22:31 AM »
Who or what is the best source for small parts such as #4 and #6 Allen head lag screws, 3/32" and 1/8" wheel collars, and 3/32" and 1/8" landing gear clips.

I'm looking for a better deal than the usual 4-packs or dozens.

I've been purchasing all my small fasteners from Micro Fasteners for many years. In my case it is easier to just go to Kathy and Randy's house (where they keep their immense stock on pegboards in their basement) in Easton, PA (about five miles from my home) and get everything I need for the year.

Here is their website. Check it out; they will have everything you need. https://www.microfasteners.com/

Good company!

+2 MicroFasteners, I built allot of high performance speed and racing stuff and never had a problem with their bolts, hardware, ect. They have some nice plastic containers with customizable dividers that are very handy for small stuff. I still get some stuff from DuBro like 4-40 blind nuts because they're solid brass not stamped sheet.

Paul ,
The last time we visited the Prop Shop (last Saturday) they had a nice selection of small metric and SAE bits in larger packages. Microfasteners Toledo show specials are hard to beat if you want to stock up.

Thanks to everybody.

I regularly shop at The Prop Shop and Metrics Unlimited in Warren, and also order stuff from McMaster Carr and go to The Toledo RC Show and The Brodak.  I was just trolling for something new.

It seems like Dubro has become the sole source for a few things like #4 and #6 Allen head lag screws.

I got enough to maintain the progress of the job locally.

The Prop Shop is alive and well selling mostly plastic fantasy cartoon models and RC foamies.  Their last surviving CL wood kit is a Brodak 1/2A Wildcat.
